(삿 1: )유다가 그의 형제 시므온에게 이르되 내가 제비 뽑아 얻은 땅에 ( ) 올라가서 가나안 족속과
싸우자 그리하면 나도 네가 제비 뽑아 얻은 땅에 함께 가리라 하니 이에 시므온이 그와 함께 가니라

그들이 너희 옆구리에 가시가 될 것이며 그들의 신들이 너희에게 ( )가 되리라 하였노라

(Judges 1: )Then the men of Judah said to the Simeonites
their brothers, "Come up with us into the territory allotted to us, to
fight against the Canaanites. We in turn will go with you into yours." So
the Simeonites went with them.
(Judges 2: )Now therefore I tell you that I will not
drive them out before you; they will be thorns in your sides and their gods
will be a snare to you."
(Judges 3: )They were left to test the Israelites to see
whether they would obey the LORD'S commands, which he had given their
forefathers through Moses.
(Judges 4: )Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of
Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.
(Judges 5: )"So may all your enemies perish, O
LORD! But may they who love you be like the sun when it rises in its
strength." Then the land had peace forty years.
(Judges 6: )The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in
the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending
you?"
(Judges 7: )The LORD said to Gideon, "You have too
many men for me to deliver Midian into their hands. In order that Israel may
not boast against me that her own strength has saved her,
(Judges 8: )But Gideon told them, "I will not rule
over you, nor will my son rule over you. The LORD will rule over you."
(Judges 9: )"But the vine answered, 'Should I give
up my wine, which cheers both gods and men, to hold sway over the trees?'
(Judges 10: )Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen.
Let them save you when you are in trouble!"
