Matthew 28:1–20
Today is Trinity Sunday.
오늘은 삼위일체주일입니다.
We want to meditate on the Great Commission given by the risen Lord through Matthew 28.
우리는 마태복음 28장을 통해 부활하신 주님께서 주신 지상명령을 묵상하려고 합니다.
The Great Commission is not simply a heavy command saying, “Go and work.”
지상명령은 단순히 “가서 일하라”는 무거운 명령이 아닙니다.
It is the gracious calling of the Lord who first meets us, rules over our lives, and sends us into the world while promising to remain with us to the end.
먼저 우리를 만나 주시고, 우리의 삶을 다스리시며, 끝까지 함께하시면서 세상으로 보내시는 주님의 은혜로운 부르심입니다.
Through today’s message, let us reflect together on the grace of the Lord who first meets us, rules over our lives, and sends us into the world.
오늘 말씀을 통해 주님께서 먼저 우리를 만나 주시고, 우리의 삶을 다스리시며, 우리를 세상으로 보내시는 은혜를 함께 나누겠습니다.
1. The Lord First Comes to Meet Us. (1–10)
주님은 먼저 우리를 만나 주십니다.
Matthew 28 begins with the morning of the resurrection.
마태복음 28장은 부활의 아침으로 시작됩니다.
At dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to Jesus’ tomb.
안식 후 첫날 새벽, 막달라 마리아와 다른 마리아는 예수님의 무덤을 찾아갑니다.
They loved the Lord, but their hearts were broken.
그들은 주님을 사랑했지만 마음은 무너져 있었습니다.
Jesus had died on the cross, and it seemed as though all hope had come to an end.
예수님께서 십자가에서 죽으셨고, 모든 소망이 끝난 것처럼 보였기 때문입니다.
But on that very morning, God began something new.
그런데 바로 그 새벽에 하나님께서 새로운 일을 시작하십니다.
There was a violent earthquake, and an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and rolled back the stone from the tomb.
큰 지진이 일어나고 주의 천사가 하늘로부터 내려와 무덤의 돌을 굴려 냅니다.
The guards trembled with fear and became like dead men.
무덤을 지키던 군인들은 두려움에 떨며 죽은 사람처럼 되어 버립니다.
The angel said to the women,
천사는 여인들에게 말합니다.
“Do not be afraid. Jesus, who was crucified, has risen.”
“무서워하지 말라. 십자가에 못 박히신 예수께서 살아나셨느니라.”
The resurrection does not erase the pain of the cross as though it never happened.
부활은 십자가의 아픔을 없었던 일로 만드는 사건이 아닙니다.
Jesus still bore the marks of the nails in His hands and feet.
예수님의 손과 발에는 여전히 못 자국이 있었습니다.
But those wounds were no longer signs of death. They had become evidence that the life of God had overcome death.
그러나 그 상처는 더 이상 죽음의 증거가 아니라, 하나님의 생명이 이기셨다는 증거가 되었습니다.
Therefore, resurrection faith does not mean that all the problems in our lives suddenly disappear.
그러므로 부활 신앙은 우리 삶의 문제가 한순간에 사라진다는 뜻이 아닙니다.
Even in sickness, we receive strength from the Lord to endure another day.
병이 있어도 주님 안에서 오늘을 견딜 힘을 얻는 것이고,
Even under financial burdens, we do not collapse in despair but take another step forward.
경제적인 부담이 있어도 절망에 무너지지 않고 다시 한 걸음을 내딛는 것이며,
Even with relational wounds, we are no longer trapped in hatred but begin to look toward restoration.
관계의 상처가 있어도 미움에 갇히지 않고 회복의 길을 바라보는 것입니다.
The women ran to tell the disciples what they had seen at the empty tomb.
여인들은 빈 무덤을 보고 제자들에게 이 소식을 전하기 위해 달려갑니다.
They carried both fear and great joy at the same time.
그들은 무서움과 큰 기쁨을 함께 안고 달려갔습니다.
Their fear had not completely disappeared, but a greater joy had begun to move their hearts.
두려움이 완전히 사라진 것은 아니었지만, 그 두려움보다 더 큰 기쁨이 그들을 움직이기 시작했습니다.
Then the risen Jesus Himself came and met them.
그때 부활하신 예수님께서 친히 그들을 만나 주십니다.
“Greetings.”
“평안하냐.”
The women took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.
여인들은 예수님의 발을 붙잡고 경배합니다.
The Lord did not ignore those who were trembling in fear.
주님은 두려움 속에 있는 사람들을 외면하지 않으셨습니다.
He came first to meet them and spoke peace to them.
먼저 찾아오셔서 만나 주시고 평안을 말씀하셨습니다.
The two disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke’s Gospel experienced the same grace.
누가복음에 나오는 엠마오로 가던 두 제자도 마찬가지였습니다.
They were walking in deep disappointment, but the risen Lord came near and walked with them.
그들은 절망 가운데 길을 걷고 있었지만, 부활하신 주님께서 가까이 오셔서 함께 걸어가 주셨습니다.
And as He explained the Scriptures to them, their hearts began to burn again.
그리고 말씀을 풀어 주실 때 그들의 마음이 다시 뜨거워졌습니다.
The same thing still happens today.
오늘날에도 이런 일은 계속 일어납니다.
Some people say their hearts collapsed while waiting for medical test results.
어떤 분은 병원 검사 결과를 기다리며 마음이 무너졌다고 합니다.
Some could not sleep because of financial hardship.
어떤 분은 경제적인 어려움 때문에 밤잠을 이루지 못했다고 합니다.
Others were so wounded by broken relationships that they barely had the strength to sit in worship.
또 어떤 분은 관계의 상처 때문에 예배 자리에 앉아 있을 힘조차 없었다고 합니다.
And yet, while listening to the Word, their hearts begin to come alive again.
그런데 말씀을 듣다가 마음이 다시 살아나는 것입니다.
As tears begin to flow during praise, people start to sense in prayer, “The Lord is still holding on to me.”
찬양 가운데 눈물이 흐르고, 기도 가운데 “주님이 아직도 나를 붙들고 계시는구나” 하는 마음이 들기 시작합니다.
The circumstances themselves may not suddenly change.
환경이 갑자기 다 바뀐 것은 아닙니다.
Yet somehow, strength to keep living begins to rise again within the heart.
그런데 마음속에 다시 살아갈 힘이 생기는 것입니다.
This is the grace of the risen Lord meeting us through the Holy Spirit.
이것이 부활하신 주님께서 성령으로 우리를 만나 주시는 은혜입니다.
We meet the Lord in worship.
우리는 예배 가운데 주님을 만납니다.
Worship is not merely a time where we follow a certain order of service.
예배는 단지 순서를 따라 드리는 시간이 아닙니다.
It is a place of grace where the living God comes to meet us.
살아계신 하나님께서 우리를 만나 주시는 은혜의 자리입니다.
Even now, the risen Lord is at work among us through the Holy Spirit.
부활하신 주님은 지금도 성령으로 우리 가운데 역사하십니다.
Through praise, He gives hope to discouraged hearts. Through the Word, He helps us hear the voice of the Lord. Through prayer, He touches wounded hearts.
찬양 가운데 낙심한 마음에 소망을 주시고, 말씀 가운데 주님의 음성을 깨닫게 하시며, 기도 가운데 상처 입은 마음을 만져 주십니다.
And through Holy Communion, He engraves the love of the cross and resurrection deeply within us.
또한 성찬 가운데 십자가와 부활의 사랑을 우리 안에 새겨 주십니다.
That is why tears are healed during worship, hardened hearts become soft again, and we gain strength to continue living.
그래서 예배 가운데 눈물이 회복되고, 굳어진 마음이 부드러워지며, 다시 살아갈 힘을 얻게 됩니다.
This is not merely emotion. It is the grace of the Holy Spirit bringing the life of the risen Lord into us.
이것은 단순한 감정이 아니라, 성령께서 부활하신 주님의 생명을 우리 안에 역사하게 하시는 은혜입니다.
Even today, the Lord first comes to those who are living in fear.
주님은 오늘도 두려움 속에 있는 사람들을 먼저 만나 주십니다.
He gives hope again, restores us, and sends us back into the world to live.
그리고 다시 소망을 주시고, 회복시키시며, 세상 속으로 살아가게 하십니다.
Therefore, even in the midst of health problems, financial burdens, relational wounds, and anxieties about the future, may all of us meet the risen Lord through the work of the Holy Spirit in worship and live again with renewed hope and joy.
그러므로 건강의 문제와 경제적인 부담 속에서도, 관계의 상처와 미래에 대한 염려 속에서도, 예배 가운데 성령의 역사로 부활하신 주님을 만나 다시 소망과 기쁨으로 살아가는 저와 여러분 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.
2. The Lord Rules Over Our Lives. (11–18)
주님은 우리의 삶을 다스리십니다.
As the women ran to deliver the news of the resurrection, the guards who had been watching the tomb went into the city and reported everything they had seen to the chief priests.
여인들이 부활의 소식을 전하러 달려갈 때, 무덤을 지키던 군인들은 성안으로 들어가 자신들이 본 일을 대제사장들에게 알립니다.
They had seen that the tomb was empty and that something beyond human explanation had taken place.
그들은 무덤이 비어 있고, 인간의 힘으로 설명할 수 없는 하나님의 역사가 일어난 것을 보았습니다.
But instead of turning toward God, the chief priests and elders chose deception.
그러나 대제사장들과 장로들은 그 사실 앞에서 하나님을 바라보지 않았습니다.
They gave the soldiers a large sum of money and instructed them to say, “His disciples came during the night and stole the body.”
오히려 군인들에게 많은 돈을 주며 “제자들이 밤에 와서 시체를 훔쳐 갔다 하라”고 말하게 합니다.
They saw the truth, yet they refused to accept it.
그들은 진리를 보았지만 받아들이지 않았습니다.
Because the moment they acknowledged the resurrection, the power and way of life they depended on would begin to collapse.
왜냐하면 부활을 인정하는 순간, 자신들이 붙들고 있던 권력과 삶의 방식이 흔들리기 때문입니다.
At this point, we are faced with an important question.
여기서 우리는 중요한 질문을 하게 됩니다.
“Who is ruling over my life?”
“누가 내 삶을 다스리고 있는가?”
Everyone wants to become the master of their own life.
사람은 누구나 자기 삶의 주인이 되고 싶어 합니다.
We want to hold on to our own thoughts, standards, and desires.
내 생각, 내 기준, 내 욕심을 붙들고 살고 싶어 합니다.
But the more we try to do that, the more anxious and fearful our hearts become.
그러나 그렇게 살수록 마음은 더 불안해지고, 두려움에 끌려가게 됩니다.
Jesus met His disciples on a mountain in Galilee and said to them,
예수님께서는 갈릴리 산에서 제자들을 만나 말씀하십니다.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”
“하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 내게 주셨으니.”
This was a declaration that the Lord is the true ruler over our lives and over the world itself.
이 말씀은 우리의 삶과 세상의 마지막 주인이 주님이시라는 선언입니다.
In those days, people believed that Rome ruled the world.
당시 사람들은 로마의 힘이 세상을 다스린다고 생각했습니다.
But through the love of the cross and the life of the resurrection, Jesus revealed what true authority really is.
그러나 예수님은 십자가의 사랑과 부활의 생명으로 참된 통치가 무엇인지를 보여주셨습니다.
Worldly power seeks to control people through fear, but the authority of the Lord restores and gives life.
세상의 권세는 사람을 두려움으로 지배하려 하지만, 주님의 권세는 사람을 살리고 회복시키는 권세입니다.
In the Gospel of Mark, the disciples encounter a violent storm while crossing the sea in a boat.
마가복음에 보면 제자들이 배를 타고 가다가 큰 광풍을 만납니다.
As waves crashed against the boat and water began to fill it, the disciples were overcome with fear.
파도가 배에 부딪히고 물이 들어오자 제자들은 두려움에 사로잡힙니다.
At that moment, Jesus spoke to the wind and the sea.
그때 예수님께서 바람과 바다를 향해 말씀하십니다.
“Be still. Be quiet.”
“잠잠하라. 고요하라.”
Then the wind died down and the sea became completely calm.
그러자 바람이 그치고 바다가 잔잔해집니다.
The disciples were amazed and said,
제자들은 놀라며 말합니다.
“Who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
“그가 누구이기에 바람과 바다도 순종하는가?”
This is the authority of the Lord.
이것이 주님의 권세입니다.
The rule of the Lord reaches even into the storms of our lives.
주님의 통치는 우리 삶의 폭풍 가운데에도 임합니다.
Today, we also become shaken by financial pressures, problems with our children, people’s words and judgments, and anxieties about the future.
오늘 우리도 경제적인 현실, 자녀 문제, 사람들의 말과 평가, 미래에 대한 염려 때문에 흔들릴 때가 있습니다.
Outwardly we may pretend everything is fine, but inwardly fear and anxiety often rage like a storm.
겉으로는 괜찮은 척 살아가지만 마음속에는 불안과 두려움이 폭풍처럼 몰아칠 때가 많습니다.
But when the Lord’s rule begins to enter our lives, change begins to happen.
그런데 주님의 통치가 우리 삶 가운데 임하기 시작하면 변화가 일어납니다.
A person who constantly compared themselves with others and lived in inferiority begins to gain freedom through the truth, “I am God’s beloved child.”
끊임없이 자신을 비교하며 열등감 속에 살던 사람이 “나는 하나님의 사랑받는 자녀”라는 사실 때문에 마음의 자유를 얻게 됩니다.
A person trapped in anger and hatred receives strength to forgive, and someone who pushed others away because of wounds begins to restore relationships again.
분노와 미움에 붙들려 있던 사람이 용서할 힘을 얻게 되고, 상처 때문에 사람들을 밀어내던 사람이 다시 관계를 회복하기 시작합니다.
A person who drove themselves endlessly while seeking the world’s approval begins to discover their true worth in God and learns how to rest.
세상의 인정만 바라보며 자신을 몰아붙이던 사람이 하나님 안에서 자신의 존재 가치를 발견하며 쉼을 배우게 됩니다.
The Lord’s rule also transforms communities.
또한 주님의 통치는 공동체도 변화시킵니다.
Relationships once filled with judgment and condemnation begin to show understanding and patience, and instead of competition and comparison, a community is formed that weeps and prays together.
서로 판단하고 정죄하던 관계 속에 이해와 기다림이 생기고, 경쟁과 비교 대신 함께 울고 함께 기도하는 공동체가 세워집니다.
People who once shrank back in fear begin serving again, and hearts once closed by pain begin loving again.
두려움 때문에 움츠러들었던 사람이 다시 섬기기 시작하고, 상처 때문에 닫혀 있던 마음이 다시 사랑하기 시작합니다.
This is what life looks like when the Lord’s rule comes upon us.
이것이 주님의 통치가 임하는 삶입니다.
The Lord does not rule over us in order to crush us, but in order to restore our broken lives.
주님은 우리를 억누르기 위해 다스리시는 분이 아니라, 무너진 삶을 다시 살리시기 위해 다스리시는 분이십니다.
Therefore, living under the Lord’s rule does not mean that all problems disappear.
그러므로 주님의 통치 아래 살아간다는 것은 모든 문제가 사라진다는 뜻이 아닙니다.
It means entrusting our hearts and lives to the Lord who is greater than our problems.
문제보다 크신 주님께 우리의 마음과 삶을 맡기며 살아가는 것입니다.
“Lord, rule my heart not with fear, but with Your peace.”
“주님, 제 마음을 두려움이 아니라 주님의 평안으로 다스려 주십시오.”
“Lord, help me follow Your will rather than my own.”
“주님, 제 뜻보다 주님의 뜻을 따르게 하십시오.”
When this confession begins, hearts once controlled by anxiety begin to stand firm in the peace of the Lord.
이 고백이 시작될 때, 불안에 끌려가던 마음이 주님의 평안 안에 서기 시작합니다.
Therefore, may all of us live in the true peace and freedom found under the Lord’s rule, which is greater than all the fears of this world.
그러므로 세상의 두려움보다 크신 주님의 통치 안에서 참된 평안과 자유를 누리며 살아가는 저와 여러분 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.
3. The Lord Sends Us into the World. (19–20)
주님은 우리를 세상으로 보내십니다.
After telling His disciples, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me,” Jesus now sends them into the world.
예수님은 제자들에게 “하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 내게 주셨다”고 말씀하신 후 이제 그들을 세상으로 보내십니다.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
“그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 베풀고 내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라.”
What is important here is that Jesus did not simply tell them to increase the number of people.
여기서 중요한 것은 예수님께서 단순히 사람 수를 늘리라고 말씀하지 않으셨다는 것입니다.
The Lord said, “Make disciples.”
주님은 “제자를 삼으라”고 하셨습니다.
A disciple is not merely someone who attends church.
제자는 단지 교회에 다니는 사람이 아닙니다.
A disciple is someone who learns the love of Jesus, follows the will of the Lord, and reveals that love through life.
예수님의 사랑을 배우고, 주님의 뜻을 따라 살아가며, 그 사랑을 삶으로 드러내는 사람입니다.
And as Jesus sent His disciples into the world, He sent them to live “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
그리고 예수님은 제자들을 세상으로 보내시면서 “아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로” 살아가게 하셨습니다.
This is because the life of a disciple is not a life we endure by our own strength.
왜냐하면 제자의 삶은 자기 힘으로 버텨 내는 삶이 아니기 때문입니다.
God the Father embraces us as His children, God the Son saves us through the love of the cross, and God the Holy Spirit still holds us and leads us into truth.
성부 하나님은 우리를 자녀로 품어 주시고, 성자 예수님은 십자가의 사랑으로 우리를 구원하시며, 성령 하나님은 지금도 우리를 붙드시고 진리 가운데로 인도하십니다.
So the Great Commission is not simply a command to do more church work.
그래서 지상명령은 단순히 교회 일을 많이 하라는 말씀이 아닙니다.
It is a life that invites people into the love and life of God.
하나님의 사랑과 생명 안으로 사람들을 초대하는 삶입니다.
In Genesis, we see God calling Abraham.
창세기에 보면 하나님께서 아브라함을 부르시는 장면이 나옵니다.
God told Abraham to leave his familiar country, his people, and his father’s household.
하나님은 아브라함에게 익숙한 고향과 친척과 아버지의 집을 떠나라고 말씀하십니다.
But God did not explain every detail of the road ahead.
그런데 하나님은 앞으로의 길을 모두 자세히 설명해 주시지 않으셨습니다.
Instead, He gave Abraham a promise.
대신 약속하셨습니다.
“Go to the land I will show you.”
“내가 네게 보여 줄 땅으로 가라.”
And He said, “You will be a blessing.”
그리고 “너는 복이 될지라”라고 말씀하셨습니다.
Abraham did not leave because he knew everything about the future.
아브라함은 미래를 다 알고 떠난 것이 아닙니다.
He walked by trusting the God who was with him.
함께하시는 하나님을 신뢰하며 걸어간 것입니다.
This is the path of a disciple.
이것이 제자의 길입니다.
Even today, the Lord sends us into the world.
오늘날에도 주님은 우리를 세상 속으로 보내십니다.
He sends us to embrace weary family members, comfort the wounded, and speak hope to those in despair.
가정에서 지친 가족을 품게 하시고, 상처 입은 사람을 위로하게 하시며, 절망 가운데 있는 사람에게 소망의 말을 전하게 하십니다.
Some people live with aching bodies, yet still pray for others.
어떤 분은 아픈 몸으로도 다른 사람을 위해 기도하며 살아갑니다.
Some people do not have much financially, yet still help those in need.
어떤 분은 경제적으로 넉넉하지 않아도 어려운 사람을 도우며 살아갑니다.
And some people, through their own wounds, come to understand and embrace the pain of others.
또 어떤 분은 자신의 상처를 통해 다른 사람의 아픔을 이해하고 품어 주게 됩니다.
This is the life of a disciple.
이것이 제자의 삶입니다.
We are not sent into the world because we are perfect.
우리가 완벽해서 세상으로 보내심 받는 것이 아닙니다.
We live in love because we have experienced the love of the Lord.
주님의 사랑을 경험했기 때문에 사랑하며 살아가게 되는 것입니다.
And this is not a road we walk alone.
그리고 그 길은 혼자 걷는 길이 아닙니다.
Jesus ends with this promise.
예수님은 마지막에 이렇게 약속하십니다.
“Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
“볼지어다 내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라.”
This is the greatest comfort of the Great Commission.
이것이 지상명령의 가장 큰 위로입니다.
The Lord did not only say, “Go.”
주님은 “가라”고만 말씀하지 않으셨습니다.
He promised, “I will be with you.”
“내가 함께하겠다”고 약속하셨습니다.
That is why we can rise again when we are weary, love again when love is difficult, and walk the path of faith even in the world.
그래서 우리가 지쳐 있을 때에도 다시 일어설 수 있고, 사랑하기 어려울 때에도 다시 사랑할 수 있으며, 세상 속에서도 믿음의 길을 걸어갈 수 있는 것입니다.
Even today, the Lord sends us into the world.
주님은 오늘도 우리를 세상 속으로 보내십니다.
In our homes, in the church, in our workplaces, and in every place of life, He calls us to reveal the love and life of Jesus.
가정에서, 교회에서, 일터와 삶의 자리에서 예수님의 사랑과 생명을 나타내며 살아가게 하십니다.
Therefore, may all of us walk with the Lord and live as disciples who share His love and life.
그러므로 주님과 동행하며 사랑과 생명을 전하는 제자의 삶을 살아가는 저와 여러분 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.
Conclusion
말씀을 정리하겠습니다.
The risen Lord first came to meet those who were living in fear.
부활하신 주님은 먼저 두려움 속에 있는 사람들을 만나 주셨습니다.
And the Lord who has all authority declared that He rules over our lives.
그리고 모든 권세를 가지신 주님은 우리의 삶을 다스리신다고 말씀하셨습니다.
He also promised to be with us to the very end of the age and sends us into the world.
또한 세상 끝날까지 함께하시겠다고 약속하시며 우리를 세상 속으로 보내십니다.
Therefore, the Great Commission is not a heavy burden.
그러므로 지상명령은 무거운 짐이 아닙니다.
It is a calling to live in the love, grace, and presence of the Lord.
주님의 사랑과 은혜와 동행 안에서 살아가는 부르심입니다.
Even in health problems and financial burdens, even in relational wounds and anxieties about the future, look to the Lord who meets us in worship.
건강의 문제와 경제적인 부담 속에서도, 관계의 상처와 미래에 대한 염려 속에서도, 예배 가운데 우리를 만나 주시는 주님을 바라보십시오.
Live under the rule of the Lord, who is greater than the fears of this world.
세상의 두려움보다 크신 주님의 통치 안에서 살아가십시오.
And walk with the Lord as disciples who share His love and life.
그리고 주님과 동행하며 사랑과 생명을 전하는 제자의 삶을 살아가십시오.
The Lord says to us even today,
주님께서 오늘도 말씀하십니다.
“Surely I am with you always.”
“내가 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라.”
May all of us hold on to this promise and live with the Lord who meets us, rules over us, and sends us.
이 약속을 붙들고 만나 주시는 주님, 다스리시는 주님, 그리고 보내시는 주님과 함께 살아가는 저와 여러분 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

설교 후 기도
Living God, we thank You for meeting us today through Your Word.
살아계신 하나님, 오늘도 말씀 가운데 우리를 만나 주심을 감사드립니다.
When fear, worry, and discouragement filled our hearts, You did not turn away from us, but came near to us through the risen Lord.
두려움과 염려와 낙심 속에 있던 우리를 외면하지 않으시고, 부활하신 주님 안에서 우리에게 가까이 와 주심을 감사드립니다.
Lord, when the storms of life shake us, help us not to be ruled by fear, but by Your peace.
