교회소개(1: )아하수에로 왕이 명령하여 왕후 와스디를 청하여도 오지 아니하였다 하는 왕후의 행위의 소문이 모든 여인들에게 전파되면 그들도 그들의 (남편을 멸시할 것인즉)
For the queen's conduct will become known to all the women, and (so they will despise) their husbands and say, 'King Xerxes commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him, but she would not come.'
(1: )왕의 조서가 이 광대한 전국에 반포되면 귀천을 막론하고 모든 여인들이 그들의 (남편을 존경하리이다) 하니라
Then when the king's edict is proclaimed throughout all his vast realm, all the women (will respect their husbands), from the least to the greatest."
(2: )그의 삼촌의 딸 하닷사 곧 에스더는 부모가 없었으나 용모가 곱고 아리따운 처녀라 그의 부모가 죽은 후에 모르드개가 (자기 딸 같이 양육하더라)
Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This girl, who was also known as Esther, was lovely in form and features, and Mordecai (had taken her as his own daughter) when her father and mother died.
(2: )왕이 모든 여자보다 (에스더를 더 사랑하므로) 그가 모든 처녀보다 왕 앞에 더 은총을 얻은지라 왕이 그의 머리에 관을 씌우고 와스디를 대신하여 왕후로 삼은 후에
Now the king (was attracted to Esther more than) to any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.
(3: )하만이 모르드개가 (무릎을 꿇지도 아니하고) 절하지도 아니함을 보고 매우 노하더니
When Haman saw that Mordecai (would not kneel down) or pay him honor, he was enraged.
(4: )이 때에 네가 만일 잠잠하여 말이 없으면 유다인은 다른 데로 말미암아 놓임과 구원을 얻으려니와 너와 네 아버지 집은 멸망하리라 네가 왕후의 자리를 얻은 것이 (이 때를 위함이 아닌지 누가 알겠느냐) 하니
For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position (for such a time as this)?"
(4: )당신은 가서 수산에 있는 유다인을 다 모으고 나를 위하여 금식하되 밤낮 삼 일을 먹지도 말고 마시지도 마소서 나도 나의 시녀와 더불어 이렇게 금식한 후에 규례를 어기고 왕에게 나아가리니 (죽으면 죽으리이다) 하니라
"Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And (if I perish, I perish)."
