A Life Lived in the Spirit
로마서 Romans 8:1–17
왜 우리는 예수를 믿으면서도 여전히 정죄감에 눌리고, 염려와 상처 속에서 흔들리며, 하나님의 자녀답게 살지 못한다고 느낄 때가 많을까요?
Why is it that even though we believe in Jesus, we still feel weighed down by condemnation, shaken by anxiety and wounds, and often feel unable to live as children of God?
하나님은 그런 우리를 향해 무엇이라고 말씀하실까요?
What does God say to us in such a state?
로마서 8장 1절부터 17절은 성령 안에서 살아가는 삶이 무엇인지, 그리고 하나님께서 어떻게 우리를 자유와 생명과 자녀의 자리로 이끄시는지를 보여 줍니다.
Romans 8:1–17 shows us what it means to live in the Spirit and how God leads us into freedom, life, and the position of His children.
1.우리는 그리스도 안에서 더 이상 정죄받지 않는 자유로운 사람입니다 (1–4)
We are free people who are no longer condemned in Christ
이 말씀은 우리가 어떤 상태가 되어야 한다는 요구가 아니라, 하나님께서 이미 우리에게 주신 신분에 대한 선언입니다.
This message is not a demand for what we must become, but a declaration of the identity God has already given us.
로마서 8장은 “그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자에게는 결코 정죄함이 없나니”라는 말씀으로 시작합니다.
Romans 8 begins with the words, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
이 말씀은 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 사람은 더 이상 정죄 아래 있는 사람이 아니라는 것입니다.
This means that those who are in Jesus Christ are no longer under condemnation.
우리는 종종 스스로를 판단합니다.
We often judge ourselves.
넘어질 때마다 “나는 역시 안 되는 사람이다”라고 생각합니다.
Every time we fall, we think, “I really am a hopeless person.”
하지만 하나님은 전혀 다르게 말씀하십니다.
But God speaks in a completely different way.
“이제는 정죄함이 없다”라고 선언하십니다.
He declares, “There is now no condemnation.”
이 말씀은 하나님께서 우리의 과거와 실패를 모르셔서 하시는 말씀이 아닙니다.
This is not because God is unaware of our past and our failures.
우리의 죄를 가볍게 여기셔서 하시는 말씀도 아닙니다.
Nor is it because He takes our sins lightly.
예수 그리스도께서 십자가에서 죄의 값을 담당하셨기 때문에, 이제 그리스도 안에 있는 사람은 더 이상 심판의 판결 아래 있지 않다는 뜻입니다.
Because Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins on the cross, those who are in Christ are no longer under the verdict of judgment.
성경은 이 은혜를 실제 사람들의 삶을 통해 보여 줍니다.
The Bible shows this grace through real people’s lives.
간음하다 붙잡혀 사람들 앞에 끌려온 여인이 있었습니다.
There was a woman caught in adultery who was dragged before the people.
사람들은 그 여인을 정죄하며 돌로 치려고 했지만, 예수님은 “나도 너를 정죄하지 아니하노니 가서 다시는 죄를 범하지 말라”라고 말씀하셨습니다.
People condemned her and tried to stone her, but Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin.”
예수님은 그 여인의 죄를 가볍게 여기신 것이 아니라, 정죄로 끝내지 않으시고 은혜로 다시 살 길을 열어 주셨습니다.
Jesus did not take her sin lightly, but instead of ending in condemnation, He opened a new way of life through grace.
바로 이것이 “정죄함이 없다”는 복음의 모습입니다.
This is exactly what the gospel looks like when it says, “there is no condemnation.”
그리고 2절에서 그 이유를 설명합니다.
And in verse 2, it explains the reason.
“이는 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법이 죄와 사망의 법에서 너를 해방하였음이라”
“Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
우리의 삶은 결국 두 길 중 하나를 선택하며 살아가게 됩니다.
In the end, our lives are lived by choosing one of two paths.
하나는 죄와 사망의 법입니다.
One is the law of sin and death.
이것은 우리가 아무리 애써도 결국 죄에 끌려가고, 그 결과로 죽음에 이르는 삶의 방향입니다.
No matter how hard we try, it pulls us toward sin and leads ultimately to death.
다른 하나는 생명의 성령의 법입니다.
The other is the law of the Spirit of life.
성령께서 우리 안에 역사하셔서 죄의 힘을 끊고, 생명으로 이끄시는 새로운 능력입니다.
It is a new power where the Holy Spirit works within us, breaking the power of sin and leading us into life.
이 말씀은 우리가 더 이상 “죄를 이겨야만 자유로운 사람”이 되는 것이 아니라 이미 자유롭게 된 사람으로 살아가야 한다는 것을 보여 줍니다.
This shows that we are no longer people who become free only after defeating sin, but people who must live as those who are already free.
그래서 넘어졌을 때에도 우리는 다시 자신을 정죄하는 자리로 돌아가지 않습니다.
So even when we fall, we do not return to a place of condemning ourselves.
“나는 여전히 죄 아래 있는 사람”이라고 말하는 대신 “나는 성령 안에서 해방된 사람이다”라고 믿음으로 서게 됩니다.
Instead of saying, “I am still under sin,” we stand in faith and confess, “I am a person set free in the Spirit.”
이 은혜를 경험한 사람의 삶은 실제로 달라집니다.
The life of someone who has experienced this grace truly changes.
삭개오는 사람들에게 죄인 취급을 받던 세리장이었습니다.
Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector who was treated as a sinner by people.
그러나 예수님께서 그의 집에 들어가시고 그를 받아 주셨을 때, 삭개오는 억지로 끌려가듯 바뀐 것이 아니라 은혜를 받은 사람답게 변화되었습니다.
But when Jesus entered his house and accepted him, Zacchaeus did not change by force, but was transformed as one who had received grace.
그는 자기 재산의 절반을 가난한 자들에게 주겠다고 하고, 잘못 빼앗은 것이 있으면 네 배로 갚겠다고 말했습니다.
He said he would give half of his possessions to the poor and repay four times what he had wrongfully taken.
이처럼 은혜로 자유를 누리게 된 사람은 죄책감에만 머무르지 않고 새로운 삶으로 나아가게 됩니다.
In this way, a person who enjoys freedom through grace does not remain in guilt but moves toward a new life.
3절은 이 일이 어떻게 가능해졌는지를 설명합니다.
Verse 3 explains how this became possible.
“율법이 육신으로 말미암아 연약하여 할 수 없는 그것을 하나님은 하시나니”
“For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did.”
율법은 옳습니다. 그러나 그 율법이 우리를 살릴 수는 없습니다.
The law is right, but it cannot give us life.
왜냐하면 우리의 육신이 연약하기 때문입니다.
Because our flesh is weak.
그래서 하나님께서 직접 우리를 살리는 길을 여셨습니다.
So God Himself opened the way to give us life.
“자기 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내어 육신에 죄를 정하사”
“He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering, and so He condemned sin in the flesh.”
이 말씀은 하나님께서 예수님을 우리와 똑같이 연약한 인간의 몸을 입고 이 땅에 보내셨다는 뜻입니다.
This means that God sent Jesus to this earth in a human body just like ours, with all its weakness.
물론 예수님 자신이 죄를 지으셨다는 말은 아닙니다.
Of course, this does not mean that Jesus Himself sinned.
예수님은 죄는 없으셨지만, 죄와 고통과 죽음이 가득한 인간의 현실 한가운데로 들어오셨습니다.
Though He was without sin, Jesus entered fully into the human reality filled with sin, suffering, and death.
그리고 하나님은 예수님의 십자가를 통해 죄를 그냥 지나치지 않으시고 분명하게 심판하셨습니다.
And through the cross of Jesus, God did not overlook sin but judged it clearly.
하나님은 죄인을 없애신 것이 아니라, 예수님 안에서 죄를 심판하심으로 우리를 살릴 길을 여셨습니다.
God did not destroy sinners, but by judging sin in Jesus, He opened the way to save us.
이 사실이 중요합니다.
This truth is important.
우리는 여전히 “내가 얼마나 잘하고 있는가”를 기준으로 자신을 바라보려 합니다.
We still tend to look at ourselves based on “how well I am doing.”
하지만 하나님은 이미 “그리스도 안에서 죄를 심판하셨다”는 기준으로 우리를 보십니다.
But God sees us based on the truth that “sin has already been judged in Christ.”
그래서 우리가 느끼는 죄책감이 아무리 깊어도 그것이 하나님의 판단보다 더 크지는 않습니다.
So no matter how deep our guilt feels, it is never greater than God’s judgment.
십자가는 “그 죄는 이미 처리되었다”라고 말합니다.
The cross declares, “That sin has already been dealt with.”
이 사실을 받아들이기 시작할 때, 우리는 더 이상 과거에 묶여 살지 않고 하나님 앞에서 다시 일어나는 삶을 살게 됩니다.
When we begin to accept this truth, we no longer live bound to the past but rise again before God.
베드로도 그런 사람입니다.
Peter is also an example of this.
그는 예수님을 세 번이나 부인한 실패를 안고 있었지만, 부활하신 예수님은 그를 정죄하지 않으시고 다시 찾아오셨습니다.
He carried the failure of denying Jesus three times, yet the risen Lord did not condemn him but came to him again.
그리고 “네가 나를 사랑하느냐”라고 물으시며 다시 사명의 자리로 세워 주셨습니다.
And asking, “Do you love me?” He restored him to his calling.
정죄였다면 베드로는 끝났을 것입니다.
If it had been condemnation, Peter would have been finished.
그러나 은혜가 그를 다시 살렸고, 다시 걷게 했고, 다시 복음을 전하는 사람으로 세웠습니다.
But grace brought him back to life, set him on his feet again, and made him a preacher of the gospel.
4절은 그 결과를 보여 줍니다.
Verse 4 shows the result.
“육신을 따르지 않고 그 영을 따라 행하는 우리에게 율법의 요구가 이루어지게 하려 하심이라”
“In order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
이제 우리의 삶은 바뀝니다.
Now our lives are changed.
억지로 하나님을 기쁘시게 하려 애쓰는 삶이 아니라 성령 안에서 자연스럽게 하나님 뜻을 따라 살아가는 삶이 됩니다.
It is no longer a life of striving to please God by force, but a life that naturally follows His will in the Spirit.
이 변화는 우리의 결심에서 시작되는 것이 아니라 우리 안에 거하시는 성령의 역사에서 시작됩니다.
This change does not begin with our determination, but with the work of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.
그래서 성령 안에서 살아가는 사람은 완벽해서 자유로운 것이 아니라 자유롭게 되었기 때문에 변화되어 갑니다.
So those who live in the Spirit are not free because they are perfect, but they are being transformed because they have been set free.
그리고 그 과정 속에서 하나님은 우리를 책망으로 몰아가지 않으시고 다시 일어나도록 붙드시며, 끝까지 이끌어 가십니다.
And in that process, God does not drive us into condemnation, but holds us so that we may rise again and leads us to the end.
이것이 바로 성령 안에서 살아가는 삶의 출발점입니다.
This is the starting point of a life lived in the Spirit.
2.우리는 성령을 따라 생각이 바뀌며 생명과 평안의 방향으로 살아가도록 부름받았습니다 (5–11)
We are called to have our minds transformed by the Spirit and to live in the direction of life and peace
성령 안에서 살아가는 삶은 무엇을 더 열심히 하느냐의 문제가 아니라, 무엇을 생각하고 무엇을 붙들고 살아가느냐가 바뀌는 삶입니다.
A life lived in the Spirit is not about doing more, but about a change in what we think about and what we hold onto.
바울은 육신을 따르는 사람과 영을 따르는 사람의 차이를 “생각”에서부터 설명합니다.
Paul explains the difference between those who live according to the flesh and those who live according to the Spirit starting with the “mind.”
“육신을 따르는 자는 육신의 일을, 영을 따르는 자는 영의 일을 생각하나니”
“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.”
우리의 삶은 결국 우리가 무엇을 계속 생각하느냐에 따라 방향이 정해집니다.
In the end, the direction of our lives is determined by what we continually think about.
그런데 솔직히 우리의 삶을 돌아보면, 우리는 오랫동안 육신의 생각을 따라 살아갈 수밖에 없었던 사람들입니다.
But honestly, when we look back on our lives, we have been people who could not help but live according to the thoughts of the flesh for a long time.
문제가 생기면 하나님보다 걱정이 먼저 떠오르고, 사람의 말 한마디에 마음이 무너지고, 비교와 경쟁 속에서 스스로를 판단하며, 상처를 받으면 용서보다 원망이 더 쉽게 올라옵니다.
When problems arise, worry comes before God, a single word from someone can shake our hearts, we judge ourselves through comparison and competition, and when we are hurt, resentment rises more easily than forgiveness.
“이렇게 살면 안 되는데” 알면서도 다시 같은 생각으로 돌아가는 우리의 모습이 있습니다.
Even though we know, “I shouldn’t live like this,” we find ourselves returning to the same thoughts again.
하나님도 이 사실을 모르지 않으십니다.
God is not unaware of this reality.
그래서 우리를 향해 “왜 이것밖에 못 하느냐”라고 책망하시기보다 성령을 통해 다른 길이 있다는 것을 알려 주십니다.
So rather than rebuking us by saying, “Why can’t you do better?” He shows us through the Spirit that there is another way.
“육신의 생각은 사망이요 영의 생각은 생명과 평안이니라”
“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”
육신의 생각은 결국 우리를 무겁게 만들고 마음에서 평안을 빼앗아 갑니다.
The thoughts of the flesh ultimately weigh us down and take away our peace.
걱정과 비교와 상처에 머물수록 우리의 마음은 점점 더 좁아지고 지치게 됩니다.
The more we remain in worry, comparison, and hurt, the narrower and more exhausted our hearts become.
그러나 하나님은 우리를 그 자리에 그대로 두지 않으십니다.
But God does not leave us in that place.
성령을 통해 우리 마음의 방향을 조금씩 바꾸어 가십니다.
Through the Holy Spirit, He gradually changes the direction of our hearts.
영의 생각은 생명과 평안이라고 말씀하십니다.
He tells us that the mind of the Spirit is life and peace.
문제가 다 사라져서가 아니라 하나님을 바라보는 방향으로 마음이 바뀌기 시작할 때 설명할 수 없는 평안이 우리 안에 자리 잡기 시작합니다.
Not because all problems disappear, but when our hearts begin to turn toward God, an unexplainable peace starts to settle within us.
그래서 하나님은 우리에게 완벽함을 요구하시기보다 이렇게 부드럽게 부르시는 것 같습니다.
So rather than demanding perfection, God gently calls us like this.
“지금 그 생각에서 조금만 나를 바라보지 않겠니?”
“Would you turn your eyes to Me, even just a little, from that thought right now?”
이 부르심은 우리를 정죄하기 위한 것이 아니라 우리에게 생명과 평안을 주시기 위한 초대입니다.
This calling is not to condemn us, but an invitation to give us life and peace.
7절과 8절은 육신의 한계를 분명하게 보여 줍니다.
Verses 7 and 8 clearly show the limitation of the flesh.
“육신의 생각은 하나님과 원수가 되나니… 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없느니라”
“The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God… it cannot please God.”
육신의 생각이 하나님과 원수가 되는 이유는, 단지 연약해서가 아니라 삶의 중심을 하나님보다 자기 자신에게 두게 만들기 때문입니다.
The reason the mind of the flesh becomes hostile to God is not merely weakness, but because it places the center of life on oneself rather than on God.
그러면 하나님의 뜻보다 내 감정이 앞서고 하나님의 인도보다 내 판단이 앞서게 됩니다.
Then our emotions come before God’s will, and our own judgment comes before His guidance.
그렇게 되면 삶의 방향이 하나님과 어긋나게 되므로 결국 하나님과 같은 길을 걸을 수 없게 됩니다.
As a result, the direction of our lives becomes misaligned with God, and we can no longer walk the same path with Him.
이 말씀은 우리를 좌절시키기 위한 말이 아니라 “네 힘으로는 어렵다”는 사실을 알려 주시는 하나님의 솔직한 말씀입니다.
This is not meant to discourage us, but is God’s honest word telling us, “It is difficult by your own strength.”
그래서 우리는 더 이상 혼자 애쓰는 사람이 아니라 성령께 도움을 구하는 사람으로 살아가게 됩니다.
So we no longer live as those who struggle alone, but as those who seek help from the Holy Spirit.
“하나님, 제 생각이 자꾸 염려로 흘러갑니다.”
“God, my thoughts keep drifting toward worry.”
“하나님, 제 마음이 자꾸 비교와 상처에 머뭅니다.”
“God, my heart keeps lingering in comparison and hurt.”
이렇게 솔직하게 나아갈 때 성령께서 우리의 생각을 조금씩 돌이키시고 하나님의 시선으로 바라보도록 도와주십니다.
When we come honestly like this, the Holy Spirit gently redirects our thoughts and helps us see from God’s perspective.
9절은 우리에게 큰 위로가 됩니다.
Verse 9 becomes a great comfort to us.
“너희가 육신에 있지 아니하고 영에 있나니”
“You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit.”
이 말씀은 “더 잘해야 한다”는 말이 아니라 “너는 이미 성령 안에 있는 사람이다”라는 선언입니다.
This is not a call to “do better,” but a declaration that “you are already a person in the Spirit.”
그래서 우리는 넘어질 때에도 “나는 왜 이 모양인가”라고 자신을 밀어내기보다 “그래도 나는 성령이 내 안에 계신 사람이다”라고 다시 서게 됩니다.
So even when we fall, instead of pushing ourselves away saying, “What’s wrong with me?” we stand again, saying, “Still, I am one in whom the Spirit dwells.”
10절과 11절은 그 삶의 소망을 보여 줍니다.
Verses 10 and 11 show the hope of that life.
우리의 겉모습은 여전히 연약하고 흔들릴 수 있지만 우리 안에는 이미 하나님이 주신 생명이 시작되었습니다.
Outwardly we may still be weak and shaken, but within us, the life given by God has already begun.
그리고 그 생명은 지금만이 아니라 끝까지 우리를 살리시는 생명입니다.
And that life is not only for now, but a life that sustains us to the very end.
그래서 성령 안에서 살아가는 삶은 완벽하게 바뀐 사람이 되는 것이 아니라 넘어질 때마다 다시 하나님을 향해 방향을 돌리는 삶입니다.
Therefore, a life in the Spirit is not becoming perfectly changed, but turning back toward God each time we fall.
그리고 그 길에서 하나님은 우리를 몰아붙이시는 분이 아니라 끝까지 기다려 주시고 다시 일어나도록 붙드시며 생명과 평안으로 이끌어 가시는 아버지이십니다.
And on that path, God is not One who drives us harshly, but our Father who waits for us, lifts us up again, and leads us into life and peace.
이것이 바로 성령을 따라 살아가도록 우리를 부르시는 하나님의 마음입니다.
This is the heart of God who calls us to live according to the Spirit.
3.우리는 성령의 인도함을 받는 하나님의 자녀로 살아가도록 부름받았습니다 (12–17)
We are called to live as God’s children who are led by the Spirit
성령 안에서 살아가는 삶은 단지 생각이 바뀌는 데서 머무르지 않고 하나님과의 관계가 새로워지는 삶입니다.
A life lived in the Spirit does not stop at a change of thoughts, but becomes a renewed relationship with God.
바울은 우리가 더 이상 육신에 끌려 사는 사람이 아니라 하나님의 자녀로 살아가는 존재가 되었다고 말합니다.
Paul says that we are no longer people who are dragged by the flesh, but have become those who live as children of God.
“그러므로 형제들아 우리가 빚진 자로되 육신에게 져서 육신대로 살 것이 아니니라”
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.”
이 말씀은 우리에게 또 하나의 부담을 주기 위한 말이 아니라 우리의 자리가 이미 바뀌었다는 것을 알려 주는 말씀입니다.
This is not to place another burden on us, but to show that our position has already changed.
우리는 더 이상 죄와 욕심에 끌려갈 수밖에 없는 사람이 아니라 다른 길을 선택할 수 있는 사람이 되었습니다.
We are no longer those who must be dragged by sin and desire, but those who can choose a different path.
그렇다고 해서 우리의 연약함이 사라진 것은 아닙니다.
That does not mean our weakness has disappeared.
여전히 우리는 넘어지기도 하고 익숙한 방식으로 돌아가기도 합니다.
We still fall and sometimes return to familiar ways.
그러나 이제는 그 자리에 머무는 사람이 아니라 다시 하나님께로 돌아오는 사람이 되었습니다.
But now we are not those who remain there, but those who return again to God.
“너희가 육신대로 살면 반드시 죽을 것이로되 영으로써 몸의 행실을 죽이면 살리니”
“For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.”
이 말씀은 우리를 몰아붙이기 위한 경고가 아니라 살 길을 열어 주시는 하나님의 초대입니다.
This is not a warning to drive us, but God’s invitation that opens the way to life.
하나님은 “왜 또 그 길로 가느냐”라고 책망하시기보다 성령을 의지하여 다른 길로 걸어갈 수 있다고 말씀하십니다.
Rather than rebuking us, “Why do you go that way again?” God tells us that we can walk a different path by relying on the Spirit.
그래서 성령 안에서 살아가는 삶은 완벽하게 죄를 끊어내는 삶이 아니라 죄를 그대로 두지 않고 하나님께로 다시 방향을 돌리는 삶입니다.
So a life in the Spirit is not about perfectly cutting off sin, but about not leaving sin as it is and turning back to God again.
14절은 우리의 정체성을 분명하게 보여 줍니다.
Verse 14 clearly shows our identity.
“무릇 하나님의 영으로 인도함을 받는 사람은 곧 하나님의 아들이라”
“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”
성령의 인도함을 받는다는 것은 특별한 사람만의 경험이 아닙니다.
Being led by the Spirit is not an experience reserved for a special few.
하나님을 향해 마음이 움직이고 죄를 그냥 두지 않으려는 마음이 생기고 다시 하나님께 나아가고 싶은 갈망이 일어나는 것, 그것이 성령의 인도하심입니다.
When your heart is drawn toward God, when you feel a desire not to leave sin as it is, and when a longing arises to come back to God—that is the leading of the Spirit.
그래서 때로 마음이 불편해지고 죄를 지은 후에 그냥 지나가지 못하는 것도 하나님이 우리를 붙들고 계신 증거일 수 있습니다.
So even when your heart feels uneasy and you cannot simply move on after sinning, it may be evidence that God is holding onto you.
15절은 우리 안에 일어난 변화를 더 깊이 보여 줍니다.
Verse 15 shows more deeply the change that has taken place within us.
“너희는 다시 무서워하는 종의 영을 받지 아니하고 양자의 영을 받았으므로 우리가 아빠 아버지라 부르짖느니라”
“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by Him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”
이제 우리는 하나님을 두려워하며 피해야 할 분으로 대하는 존재가 아니라 “아빠 아버지”라고 부를 수 있는 관계 안에 들어왔습니다.
Now we are no longer those who fear and avoid God, but have entered into a relationship where we can call Him “Abba, Father.”
그래서 성령 안에서 살아가는 삶은 하나님 앞에서 숨는 삶이 아니라 하나님께 나아가는 삶입니다.
So a life in the Spirit is not hiding from God, but moving toward Him.
실수했을 때에도 도망치는 것이 아니라 “아버지”라고 부르며 다시 돌아오는 삶입니다.
Even when we fail, it is not a life of running away, but of calling “Father” and returning again.
하나님은 그런 우리를 밀어내지 않으시고 다시 품어 주시는 분이십니다.
God does not push us away, but embraces us again.
16절은 우리에게 깊은 위로를 줍니다.
Verse 16 gives us deep comfort.
“성령이 친히 우리의 영과 더불어 우리가 하나님의 자녀인 것을 증언하시나니”
“The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
우리는 때때로 스스로를 의심합니다.
At times, we doubt ourselves.
“내가 정말 하나님의 자녀인가.”
“Am I really a child of God?”
“이 모습으로 하나님 앞에 설 수 있는가.”
“Can I stand before God as I am?”
그때 성령께서 우리 안에서 말씀하십니다.
At that moment, the Holy Spirit speaks within us.
“너는 하나님의 자녀다.”
“You are a child of God.”
이 확신은 우리의 상태에서 오는 것이 아니라 하나님이 우리를 어떻게 보시는가에서 오는 확신입니다.
This assurance does not come from our condition, but from how God sees us.
그래서 우리는 흔들릴 때마다 자신을 붙잡기보다 우리 안에서 말씀하시는 성령의 음성에 귀를 기울이게 됩니다.
So when we are shaken, instead of holding onto ourselves, we listen to the voice of the Spirit speaking within us.
17절은 그 삶의 방향을 보여 줍니다.
Verse 17 shows the direction of that life.
“자녀이면 또한 상속자 곧 하나님의 상속자요 그리스도와 함께 한 상속자니”
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.”
우리는 단지 용서받은 존재로 머무는 것이 아니라 하나님의 유업을 함께 누릴 자로 부르심을 받았습니다.
We are not merely forgiven people, but are called to share in God’s inheritance.
그리고 그 길에는 때로 고난도 함께 있습니다.
And along that path, there are times when suffering is included.
그러나 우리가 그 고난을 피하지 않고 걸어갈 수 있는 이유는 우리를 향한 아버지의 사랑을 믿기 때문입니다.
But the reason we can walk through that suffering without avoiding it is because we trust the Father’s love for us.
바울도 “그리스도의 사랑이 우리를 강권하시는도다”라고 고백하며 그 사랑에 붙들려 복음을 위해 기꺼이 고난의 길을 걸어갔습니다.
Paul also confessed, “The love of Christ compels us,” and being held by that love, he willingly walked the path of suffering for the gospel.
이처럼 성령 안에서 살아가는 삶은 고난이 없는 삶이 아니라 아버지의 사랑을 신뢰하기 때문에 그 길을 함께 걸어갈 수 있는 삶입니다.
In this way, a life in the Spirit is not a life without suffering, but a life that can walk through it because we trust the Father’s love.
그래서 성령 안에서 살아가는 삶은 완벽한 사람이 되는 길이 아니라 하나님의 자녀로 살아가는 길입니다.
So living in the Spirit is not the path to becoming perfect, but the path of living as God’s children.
넘어질 때에도 다시 “아버지”를 부르며 돌아오고 그분의 인도하심을 따라 한 걸음씩 걸어가는 삶입니다.
Even when we fall, it is a life of calling “Father” again, returning, and walking step by step under His guidance.
그리고 그 길에서 하나님은 우리를 몰아붙이시는 분이 아니라 끝까지 기다려 주시고 다시 일어나도록 붙드시며 결국 영광의 자리까지 이끌어 가시는 아버지이십니다.
And on that path, God is not One who drives us harshly, but the Father who waits for us, lifts us up again, and leads us all the way to glory.
이것이 바로 성령의 인도함을 받는 하나님의 자녀로 살아가는 삶입니다.
This is what it means to live as God’s children led by the Spirit.
이제 말씀을 정리해 보겠습니다.

우리는 그리스도 안에서 더 이상 정죄받는 사람이 아니라 은혜 안에 있는 사람입니다.
In Christ, we are no longer people under condemnation, but people who live under grace.
우리는 성령을 따라 생각이 바뀌며 생명과 평안의 방향으로 살아가는 사람입니다.
We are people whose minds are being changed by the Spirit, and who live in the direction of life and peace.
우리는 성령의 인도함을 받는 하나님의 자녀로 살아가는 사람입니다.
We are people who live as God’s children, led by the Spirit.
그래서 우리의 삶은 완벽해지는 것이 아니라 방향이 바뀌는 삶입니다.
So our life is not about becoming perfect, but about having our direction changed.
넘어질 때에도 다시 하나님을 향해 돌아가고, “아버지”를 부르며 다시 서는 삶입니다.
Even when we fall, it is a life of turning back to God, calling Him “Father,” and standing again.
그 길에는 때로 고난도 있지만, 우리를 사랑하시는 아버지를 믿기 때문에 우리는 그 길을 함께 걸어갈 수 있습니다.
There is sometimes suffering on that path, but because we trust the Father who loves us, we are able to walk it with Him.
오늘도 성령께서 우리를 이끌어 가십니다.
Even today, the Holy Spirit is leading us.
그 은혜 안에서 생명과 평안을 누리며 하나님의 자녀로 살아가는 삶이 우리 모두에게 이루어지기를 바랍니다.
May all of us live as God’s children, enjoying life and peace in that grace.

사랑의 하나님 아버지, 우리를 정죄에서 건져 주시고 은혜 안에 살게 하심을 감사합니다.
Loving Father God, thank You for delivering us from condemnation and allowing us to live in grace.
여전히 연약하고 흔들리는 우리이지만, 성령께서 우리 안에서 생각을 바꾸시고 생명과 평안의 길로 이끌어 주심을 믿습니다.
Though we are still weak and easily shaken, we believe that the Holy Spirit changes our thoughts and leads us into the way of life and peace.
넘어질 때에도 우리를 버리지 않으시고 “아버지”라 부르며 다시 나아가게 하시는 은혜를 붙들게 하옵소서.
Even when we fall, help us hold onto the grace that does not cast us away, but leads us to call You “Father” and come again.

Even on the path of suffering, help us trust the Father who loves us and live by following the leading of the Spirit.
