Isaiah 이사야 55:1-13
When people are thirsty, they look for water.
사람은 목이 마르면 물을 찾습니다.
But what do they look for when their hearts are thirsty?
그런데 마음이 마르면 무엇을 찾을까요?
Some people shop online.
어떤 사람은 인터넷 쇼핑을 합니다.
They needed only one thing, but when the delivery arrives, there are five boxes.
필요한 것은 하나였는데 배송이 올 때는 상자가 다섯 개입니다.
They feel good while opening the boxes, but when they see the credit card statement, they become thirsty again.
상자를 열 때는 기분이 좋지만, 카드 명세서를 볼 때는 다시 목이 마릅니다.
Some people keep opening the refrigerator door.
어떤 사람은 냉장고 문을 자꾸 엽니다.
They know they looked inside only a little while ago, but they open it again.
분명히 조금 전에도 열어 보았는데 다시 엽니다.
Nothing new could have appeared, but they still check one more time.
새로운 것이 생겼을 리가 없는데도 또 열어 봅니다.
Sometimes they are not hungry; their hearts simply feel empty.
배가 고픈 것이 아니라 마음이 허전하기 때문입니다.
Others keep looking at their phones.
또 어떤 사람은 휴대전화를 계속 들여다봅니다.
No message has arrived, and there is no important news, but they keep checking.
문자가 온 것도 아니고, 중요한 소식이 있는 것도 아닌데 자꾸 확인합니다.
What are they really looking for?
무엇이 궁금한 것일까요?
The truth is that all of us live with some kind of thirst.
사실 우리는 모두 무언가에 목말라 살아갑니다.
We thirst for love, recognition, peace, and new hope.
사랑에 목마르고, 인정에 목마르고, 평안에 목마르고, 새로운 소망에 목마릅니다.
The problem is that we sometimes try to satisfy the thirst of our souls with the things of this world.
그런데 문제는 우리가 때때로 영혼의 갈증을 세상의 것으로 채우려고 한다는 것입니다.
We think that having more will make us feel better, that greater success will satisfy us, and that being recognized by others will make us happy.
더 가지면 괜찮아질 것 같고, 더 성공하면 만족할 것 같고, 사람들이 나를 알아주면 행복할 것 같습니다.
But those things may bring temporary pleasure, while the deep thirst within our hearts remains.
그러나 그런 것들은 잠시 기쁠 수는 있어도 마음 깊은 곳의 갈증은 사라지지 않습니다.
In today’s passage, God speaks to us in the midst of that thirst.
오늘 본문에서 하나님은 그런 우리를 향하여 말씀하십니다.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters.”
“너희 모든 목마른 자들아 물로 나아오라.”
God calls to the thirsty and says, “Come to Me.”
하나님은 목마른 사람에게 “내게로 오라”고 부르십니다.
A person who has returned to God is not someone who has no problems.
하나님께 돌아온 사람은 모든 문제가 없는 사람이 아닙니다.
It is someone who recognizes their thirst and comes to God carrying that thirst.
자신의 목마름을 알고, 그 갈증을 가지고 하나님께 나아오는 사람입니다.
Through today’s message, may our hearts, which could not be satisfied by the things of this world, be filled with the grace of God.
오늘 말씀을 통하여 우리가 세상의 것으로 채워지지 않던 마음을 하나님의 은혜로 채우게 되시기를 바랍니다.
1. A Person Who Has Returned to God Thirsts for Grace(1-3)
하나님께 돌아온 사람은 은혜에 목마른 사람입니다.
Isaiah 55 begins with God's invitation to the people who were looking forward to the end of their exile in Babylon.
이사야 55장은 바벨론 포로 생활의 끝을 바라보는 백성들에게 주시는 하나님의 초청으로 시작됩니다.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters.” (1)
“오호라 너희 모든 목마른 자들아 물로 나아오라.” (1)
God first calls those who are thirsty.
하나님은 먼저 목마른 사람을 부르십니다.
Here, thirst refers to a heart that has become dry because of sin, failure, loss, and despair.
여기서 목마름은 죄와 실패, 상실과 절망으로 인해 마음이 메마른 상태를 말합니다.
Money, success, health, and relationships cannot completely satisfy this thirst.
사람은 돈이나 성공, 건강이나 인간관계로는 이 갈증을 완전히 해결할 수 없습니다.
Therefore, God says, “You who have no money, come.”
그래서 하나님은 “돈 없는 자도 오라”고 하십니다.
The grace God gives is not something we purchase through our qualifications or achievements. It is God's gift.
하나님이 주시는 은혜는 우리의 자격이나 공로로 사는 것이 아니라 하나님의 선물입니다.
Here God says, “Buy wine and milk without money and without cost.”
여기서 하나님은 “돈 없이, 값 없이 포도주와 젖을 사라”고 말씀하십니다.
How can we buy something when we have no money and pay no price?
돈도 없고 값을 치르지도 않는데 어떻게 산다고 할 수 있습니까?
The Hebrew word translated “buy” refers to purchasing grain or food in the marketplace.
“사라”는 말은 히브리어로 시장에 가서 곡식이나 양식을 사는 행위를 가리킵니다.
Yet God deliberately says, “Buy,” while at the same time saying, “without money and without cost.”
그런데 하나님은 일부러 “사라”고 하시면서 동시에 “돈 없이, 값 없이”라고 말씀하십니다.
This is a wonderful paradox that reveals the grace of God.
이것은 하나님의 은혜를 보여주는 놀라운 역설입니다.
God's grace is freely given, but it is never without value.
하나님의 은혜는 공짜로 주어지지만 가치 없는 것이 아닙니다.
Wine and milk were precious foods that symbolized abundance and joy in those days.
포도주와 젖은 당시 사람들에게 풍성함과 기쁨을 나타내는 귀한 음식이었습니다.
God is not giving us something cheap. He freely gives us something so precious that we could never pay for it.
하나님께서 값싼 것을 나누어 주시는 것이 아니라, 우리가 값을 치를 수 없는 귀한 것을 값없이 베풀어 주시는 것입니다.
Therefore, “buy” does not mean paying money. It is God's invitation to receive His grace wholeheartedly.
그러므로 “사라”는 말씀은 돈을 내라는 뜻이 아니라, 하나님의 은혜를 적극적으로 받아들이라는 초청입니다.
Do not remain far away. Come to God, listen carefully, and receive His grace by faith.
가만히 멀리 서 있지 말고 하나님께로 나아오며, 귀를 기울이고, 믿음으로 받아 누리라는 뜻입니다.
We can never pay the price of grace.
우리는 은혜의 값을 치를 수 없습니다.
In the light of the New Testament, Jesus Christ has already paid that price on the cross.
신약의 빛에서 보면 그 값은 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에서 이미 치르셨습니다.
Therefore, God's grace is given to us freely, but it is never cheap grace.
그러므로 하나님의 은혜는 우리에게 값없이 주어지지만 결코 값싼 은혜는 아닙니다.
We are told to buy, but we are not the ones who pay the price.
사는 것이지만 우리가 값을 치르는 것은 아닙니다.
Because God has paid the price, we receive and enjoy His grace by faith.
하나님께서 값을 치르셨기 때문에 우리는 믿음으로 받아 누리는 것입니다.
Water, wine, and milk all symbolize life, joy, and abundance.
물과 포도주와 젖은 모두 생명과 기쁨과 풍성함을 상징합니다.
After inviting the thirsty to buy wine and milk, God asks this question.
하나님은 목마른 자에게 포도주와 젖을 사라고 하신 후에 이렇게 묻습니다.
“Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?” (2)
“어찌하여 양식이 아닌 것을 위하여 은을 달아 주며 배부르게 하지 못할 것을 위하여 수고하느냐.” (2)
People spend their entire lives pursuing happiness, yet their souls often become even more empty.
사람들은 행복을 얻기 위해 평생 애쓰지만 정작 영혼은 더 공허해질 때가 많습니다.
God says, “Listen to Me and come to Me.” Then you will eat what is good and delight in the richest of fare.
하나님은 “내게 듣고 내게 나아오라”고 말씀하십니다. 그러면 좋은 것을 먹을 것이며 기름진 것으로 즐거움을 얻으리라고 말씀하십니다.
Returning to God is the way for our souls to live.
하나님께 돌아오는 것은 우리의 영혼이 사는 길입니다.
God says, “Give ear and come to Me; listen, that your soul may live.” (3)
하나님은 우리에게 “귀를 기울이고 내게로 나아와 들으라. 그리하면 너희의 영혼이 살리라.” (3)고 하십니다.
He also promises to give those who return to Him the everlasting covenant and the faithful love He showed to David.
하나님께서는 다윗에게 베푸셨던 변함없는 언약의 사랑을 하나님께로 돌아오는 사람들에게도 베푸시겠다고 약속하십니다.
Even when our outward lives seem to lack nothing, we often carry an unfulfilled thirst deep within our hearts.
우리는 겉으로는 부족함이 없어 보여도 마음속에는 채워지지 않는 갈증을 안고 살아갑니다.
Some people thirst because of the wounds of failure.
어떤 사람은 실패의 상처 때문에 목마릅니다.
Some thirst because of broken relationships.
어떤 사람은 관계의 아픔 때문에 목마릅니다.
Some thirst because of loneliness and fear of the future.
어떤 사람은 외로움과 미래에 대한 두려움 때문에 목마릅니다.
Others have walked with God for many years, yet their joy has faded and their spirits have become dry.
또 어떤 사람은 오래 신앙생활을 했지만 기쁨이 사라져 영적으로 메말라 있습니다.
To all such people, God first says, “Come.”
하나님은 그런 우리에게 먼저 “오라.”고 부르십니다.
Those who come to God are those who honestly acknowledge their thirst.
하나님께 나아오는 사람은 자신의 목마름을 인정하는 사람입니다.
When we admit the emptiness of our hearts, God's grace begins to fill that empty place.
자신의 빈 마음을 인정할 때 하나님의 은혜가 그 자리를 채우기 시작할 것입니다.
Are you still weighed down by old wounds?
혹시 오래된 상처 때문에 아직도 마음이 무겁습니까?
Are you unable to draw near to God because of guilt?
죄책감 때문에 하나님께 가까이 가지 못하고 있습니까?
Are you exhausted by life and feel that you have no strength left?
삶이 지쳐 더 이상 힘이 없습니까?
Even today, the Lord says,
주님은 오늘도 말씀하십니다.
“Come, all you who are thirsty.”
“목마른 자는 다 내게로 오라.”
“Listen to Me.”
“내게 듣고 들을지어다.”
“Give ear and come to Me.”
“너희는 귀를 기울이고 내게로 나아와 들으라.”
God's grace is greater than our past, deeper than our failures, and stronger than our wounds.
하나님의 은혜는 우리의 과거보다 크고, 실패보다 깊으며, 상처보다 강합니다.
Those who drink of His grace live again, find hope again, and become people who share the water of life with others.
그 은혜를 마시는 사람은 다시 살아나고, 다시 소망을 품게 되며, 다른 사람에게도 생명의 물을 나누는 사람이 됩니다.
A person who has returned to God does not live by his own strength but longs for God's grace every day.
하나님께 돌아온 사람은 자신의 힘으로 살아가는 사람이 아니라 하나님의 은혜를 날마다 사모하는 사람입니다.
May our souls long daily for God's grace, be restored by that grace, and receive new strength.
우리의 영혼이 날마다 하나님의 은혜를 갈망하며 그 은혜로 회복되고 새 힘을 얻는 삶이 되기를 축복합니다.
2. A Person Who Has Returned to God Lives by the Word and Becomes His Witness(4-11)
하나님께 돌아오는 사람은 말씀으로 살아가며 증인이 됩니다.
God says of David, “I have made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander of the peoples.” (4)
하나님은 다윗을 가리켜 “만민에게 증인과 인도자와 명령자로 삼았다.” (4)고 말씀하십니다.
David was not merely the king of Israel.
다윗은 단순히 이스라엘의 왕이 아니었습니다.
His life was a testimony that revealed who God is to the world.
그의 삶은 하나님이 어떤 분이신지를 세상에 드러내는 증거였습니다.
Through the covenant He made with David, God promised to send the Messiah, and that promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
하나님께서는 다윗과 맺으신 언약을 통해 메시아를 보내실 것을 약속하셨고, 그 약속은 예수 그리스도 안에서 완성되었습니다.
God declares that the promise He made to David would not remain with David alone.
하나님은 다윗에게 하신 약속이 다윗 한 사람에게만 머물지 않는다고 말씀하십니다.
“You will summon nations you do not know, and nations that do not know you will come running to you because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for He has endowed you with splendor.” (5)
“네가 알지 못하는 나라를 부를 것이며, 너를 알지 못하는 나라가 네게로 달려올 것은 여호와 네 하나님, 곧 이스라엘의 거룩하신 이로 말미암음이라.” (5)
Those who have received God's grace do not keep that grace to themselves.
하나님의 은혜를 받은 사람은 그 은혜를 혼자 누리는 것으로 끝나지 않습니다.
Through those who have received His grace, God calls others, and in the end He brings the nations back to Himself.
하나님은 은혜 받은 사람을 통하여 다른 사람을 부르시고, 마침내 열방이 하나님께로 돌아오게 하십니다.
This is the mission God has entrusted to His people.
이것이 하나님께서 자기 백성에게 맡기신 사명입니다.
Therefore God first says, “Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.” (6)
그러므로 하나님은 먼저 “여호와를 만날 만한 때에 찾으라. 가까이 계실 때에 그를 부르라.” (6)고 말씀하십니다.
Before leading others to God, we ourselves must first draw near to Him.
다른 사람을 하나님께 인도하기 전에 먼저 자신이 하나님께 가까이 나아가야 합니다.
Those who seek God can testify about Him, and those who walk with Him can lead others to Him.
하나님을 찾는 사람이 하나님을 증거할 수 있고, 하나님과 동행하는 사람이 다른 사람을 하나님께로 인도할 수 있습니다.
A witness of God is not simply someone who is active in church, but someone who draws near to God and reveals Him by living in obedience to His Word.
하나님의 증인은 단순히 교회 활동을 많이 하는 사람이 아니라, 하나님을 가까이하며 말씀에 순종하는 삶으로 하나님을 드러내는 사람입니다.
Therefore, Scripture says again, “Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.” (6)
그러므로 성경은 우리에게 “너희는 여호와를 만날 만한 때에 찾으라. 가까이 계실 때에 그를 부르라.” (6)고 말씀합니다.
Before leading others to God, we must first come near to Him ourselves.
우리는 다른 사람을 하나님께 인도하기 전에 먼저 우리 자신이 하나님께 가까이 나아가야 합니다.
Returning to God is more than simply feeling sorry for our sins.
하나님께 돌아온다는 것은 단순히 죄를 뉘우치는 것이 아닙니다.
“Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD.” (7)
“악인은 그의 길을, 불의한 자는 그의 생각을 버리고 여호와께로 돌아오라.” (7)
Returning to God means leaving behind our own ways and thoughts and choosing God's way and God's will.
하나님께 돌아온다는 것은 자신의 길과 생각을 버리고 하나님의 길과 하나님의 뜻을 선택하는 것입니다.
Repentance is a change in the direction of our lives.
회개는 삶의 방향이 바뀌는 것입니다.
A true witness is not a perfect person, but one who leaves behind his own way, chooses God's way, and obeys God's Word.
참된 증인은 완벽한 사람이 아니라, 자신의 길을 버리고 하나님의 길을 선택하며 말씀에 순종하는 사람입니다.
A person who has returned to God lives by God's Word after repenting.
하나님께 돌아온 사람은 회개한 후에 하나님의 말씀을 따라 살아갑니다.
Now they trust God's thoughts more than their own.
이제는 자신의 생각보다 하나님의 생각을 신뢰하며 살아갑니다.
Therefore God says,
그래서 하나님은 이렇게 말씀하십니다.
“My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways.” (8)
“내 생각은 너희의 생각과 다르며 내 길은 너희의 길과 다르다.” (8)
We tend to live according to our own experience and judgment.
우리는 자신의 경험과 판단을 기준으로 살아가기 쉽습니다.
But those who have returned to God trust His thoughts above their own.
그러나 하나님께 돌아온 사람은 자신의 생각보다 하나님의 생각을 먼저 신뢰합니다.
Even when God's will is different from what we expect, they believe that His way is always the best.
하나님의 뜻이 내 생각과 다를 때에도 하나님의 길이 가장 선한 길임을 믿는 것입니다.
Why should we trust God's thoughts?
우리는 왜 하나님의 생각을 신뢰해야 할까요?
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (9)
“이는 하늘이 땅보다 높음 같이 내 길은 너희의 길보다 높으며 내 생각은 너희의 생각보다 높음이니라.” (9)
God's thoughts are not just a little better than ours.
하나님의 생각은 우리의 생각보다 조금 나은 정도가 아닙니다.
They are infinitely higher, just as the heavens are higher than the earth.
하늘이 땅보다 높은 것처럼 비교할 수 없을 만큼 높습니다.
We see only the present, but God sees the beginning and the end.
우리는 현재만 보지만 하나님은 처음과 끝을 모두 보십니다.
Therefore, even when we do not understand, we can trust God's plan.
그러므로 이해되지 않는 순간에도 하나님의 계획을 신뢰해야 합니다.
Then how does God's Word accomplish His purposes?
그렇다면 하나님의 말씀은 어떻게 하나님의 뜻을 이루어 갈까요?
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and water the earth, causing it to bud and flourish…” (10)
“비와 눈이 하늘에서 내려 땅을 적셔 싹이 나게 하며 열매를 맺게 하는 것 같이…” (10)
Rain and snow do not produce fruit the moment they fall.
비와 눈은 내리자마자 열매를 맺지 않습니다.
They soak into the ground, give life to the seed, and in time produce a harvest.
땅속으로 스며들어 씨앗을 살리고, 시간이 지나 마침내 열매를 맺게 합니다.
In the same way, God's Word is planted in our hearts. It transforms us and unfailingly accomplishes everything God intends.
하나님의 말씀도 우리의 마음에 심겨져 우리를 변화시킬 뿐 아니라, 하나님께서 뜻하신 일을 반드시 이루어 갑니다.
Then God boldly declares the power of His Word.
그래서 하나님은 말씀의 능력을 이렇게 확신 있게 선포하십니다.
“So is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (11)
“내 입에서 나가는 말도 헛되이 내게로 돌아오지 아니하고 내가 기뻐하는 뜻을 이루며 내가 보낸 일에 형통하리라.” (11)
God's Word never fails.
하나님의 말씀은 결코 헛되지 않습니다.
Whenever God speaks, His Word accomplishes His purpose.
하나님께서 말씀하시면 반드시 이루어집니다.
Therefore, God's witnesses do not rely on their own abilities or experience.
그러므로 하나님의 증인은 자신의 능력이나 경험을 의지하는 사람이 아닙니다.
They trust that God's Word will surely work and they live in obedience to it.
하나님의 말씀이 반드시 역사하신다는 것을 믿고 말씀을 따라 살아가는 사람입니다.
Today we hear countless voices in the world.
오늘날 우리는 세상 속에서 수많은 목소리를 듣습니다.
The world tells us to pursue success and wealth.
세상은 성공과 돈을 따라가라고 말합니다.
It tells us to live only for ourselves.
자신만을 위해 살라고 말합니다.
It tells us to choose the easiest path.
편한 길을 선택하라고 말합니다.
But those who have returned to God do not follow the voice of the world; they follow the Word of God.
그러나 하나님께 돌아온 사람은 세상의 소리가 아니라 하나님의 말씀을 따라 살아갑니다.
Sometimes living according to God's Word seems like a disadvantage.
때로는 말씀대로 사는 것이 손해처럼 보일 수 있습니다.
Honesty may seem costly.
정직하게 사는 것이 불리하게 느껴질 수도 있습니다.
Forgiveness may seem like defeat.
용서하는 것이 지는 것처럼 보일 수도 있습니다.
But God's Word never returns empty.
그러나 하나님의 말씀은 결코 헛되이 돌아가지 않습니다.
Through our small acts of obedience, families are changed.
우리의 작은 순종을 통하여 가정이 변화되고,
Through our honest lives, workplaces are transformed.
우리의 정직한 삶을 통하여 직장이 변화되며,
Through our love and service, people are brought back to God.
우리의 사랑과 섬김을 통하여 누군가가 하나님께 돌아오게 됩니다.
We do not become God's witnesses because we possess extraordinary abilities.
우리는 특별한 능력이 있어서 증인이 되는 것이 아닙니다.
God works through our lives when we believe His Word and live by it.
하나님의 말씀을 믿고 살아갈 때 하나님께서 우리의 삶을 통하여 일하십니다.
Therefore, the most powerful witness is not merely speaking about the gospel, but living according to God's Word.
그러므로 가장 강력한 전도는 말보다 말씀대로 살아가는 삶입니다.
Those who have returned to God do not keep His grace to themselves.
하나님께 돌아온 사람은 하나님의 은혜를 혼자 간직하지 않습니다.
They become witnesses who reveal the living God by living according to His Word.
말씀을 따라 살아가며 하나님의 살아 계심을 드러내는 증인이 됩니다.
May we all trust and obey God's Word so that we may become blessed witnesses who spread the fragrance of Christ in our families, our church, and the world.
우리 모두 하나님의 말씀을 신뢰하고 순종함으로, 가정과 교회와 세상 속에서 그리스도의 향기를 나타내는 복된 증인이 되기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.
3. A Person Who Has Returned to God Goes Out with Joy and Is Led Forth in Peace (12-13)
하나님께 돌아오는 사람은 기쁨으로 나아가며 평안히 인도받는 사람입니다.
To those who have returned to Him, God gives one final and wonderful promise.
하나님께 돌아온 사람에게 하나님은 마지막으로 놀라운 약속을 주십니다.
“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace.” (12)
“너희는 기쁨으로 나아가며 평안히 인도함을 받을 것이라.” (12)
This is not merely a vague promise that everything will turn out well.
이 말씀은 단순히 모든 일이 잘될 것이라는 막연한 위로가 아닙니다.
It is God's promise that He Himself will take responsibility for our lives and lead us to the very end.
하나님께서 친히 우리의 삶을 책임지시고 끝까지 인도하시겠다는 약속입니다.
Those who have returned to God are no longer driven by fear but are led by the hand of God.
하나님께 돌아온 사람은 더 이상 두려움에 끌려가는 사람이 아니라, 하나님의 손에 이끌려 살아가는 사람입니다.
In life we experience failure, wounds, and tears.
우리는 살아가면서 실패도 경험하고, 상처도 입고, 눈물도 흘립니다.
At times we may think, “This is the end of my life,” or, “I will never rise again.”
그래서 때로는 “내 인생은 여기까지인가 보다.”, “나는 다시 일어설 수 없을 것이다.”라고 생각하기도 합니다.
But God does not speak that way.
그러나 하나님은 그렇게 말씀하지 않으십니다.
He says, “Go out with joy,” and promises, “I will lead you forth in peace.”
하나님은 “기쁨으로 나아가라.”고 말씀하시고, “평안히 인도하겠다.”고 약속하십니다.
He gives strength to rise again where we have fallen, restores joy where we have wept, and fills fearful hearts with His peace.
넘어졌던 자리에서도 다시 일어설 힘을 주시고, 눈물 흘리던 자리에도 기쁨을 회복시켜 주시며, 두려움 가운데 있던 우리의 마음을 평안으로 붙들어 주십니다.
Therefore, God's people live not by what they see, but by His promises.
그래서 하나님의 백성은 현실이 아니라 하나님의 약속을 붙들고 살아가는 사람입니다.
Then God paints a beautiful picture of how our lives will be transformed.
하나님은 이어서 우리의 삶이 어떻게 변화될 것인지를 아름다운 그림으로 보여 주십니다.
“The mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” (12)
“산들과 언덕들이 너희 앞에서 노래를 발하고 들의 모든 나무가 손뼉을 칠 것이며.” (12)
This means that all creation rejoices together in God's saving work.
이는 하나님께서 이루시는 구원의 역사를 온 피조세계가 함께 기뻐한다는 뜻입니다.
The joy of those who have returned to God is not a private joy.
하나님께 돌아온 사람의 기쁨은 혼자만의 기쁨이 아닙니다.
It is the joy of celebrating God's saving grace together with all creation.
하나님께서 이루신 구원의 은혜를 함께 찬양하는 기쁨입니다.
Then God gives us an even greater promise of hope.
그리고 하나님은 우리에게 더욱 큰 소망을 약속하십니다.
“Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.” (13)
“잣나무는 가시나무를 대신하여 나며 화석류는 찔레를 대신하여 날 것이라.” (13)
The thornbush and the brier symbolize sin, the curse, wounds, and suffering.
가시나무와 찔레는 죄와 저주, 상처와 아픔을 상징합니다.
The juniper and the myrtle symbolize life, beauty, restoration, and blessing.
그러나 잣나무와 화석류는 생명과 아름다움, 회복과 축복을 상징합니다.
God does not say, “I will simply reduce the thorns.”
하나님은 “가시를 조금 줄여 주겠다.”고 말씀하지 않으십니다.
He promises to replace the thornbush with the juniper and the brier with the myrtle.
가시를 잣나무로, 찔레를 화석류로 바꾸시겠다고 약속하십니다.
This is the grace of God.
이것이 하나님의 은혜입니다.
God does not merely cover our wounds; He transforms them into restoration.
하나님은 우리의 상처를 덮어 두시는 분이 아니라, 상처를 회복으로 바꾸시는 분이십니다.
He changes tears into joy, fear into peace, despair into hope, and failure into a testimony of His grace.
눈물을 기쁨으로, 두려움을 평안으로, 절망을 소망으로, 실패를 하나님의 은혜의 간증으로 바꾸시는 분이십니다.
Our wounds truly cause us pain.
상처는 분명 우리를 아프게 합니다.
Yet God never allows those wounds to be meaningless.
그러나 하나님은 그 상처를 헛되게 두지 않으십니다.
He takes hold of our wounds and brings forth new fruit through His restoring work.
하나님은 우리의 상처를 붙드시고, 그 회복을 통하여 새로운 열매를 맺게 하십니다.
Then God makes this final declaration.
그래서 하나님은 마지막으로 이렇게 선언하십니다.
“This will be for the LORD's renown, for an everlasting sign that will endure forever.” (13)
“이것이 여호와의 기념이 되며 영원한 표징이 되어 끊어지지 아니하리라.” (13)
Here, “renown” means a name that brings glory to God, and “an everlasting sign” means evidence that God is alive and still at work.
여기서 ‘기념’은 하나님께 영광이 되는 이름을 말하고, ‘표징’은 하나님께서 살아 계시고 지금도 일하신다는 증거를 의미합니다.
God does not stop with restoring our lives.
하나님께서는 우리의 삶을 회복시키시는 것으로 끝내지 않으십니다.
He desires to reveal to the world who He is through our transformed lives.
변화된 우리의 삶을 통하여 하나님이 어떤 분이신지를 세상에 드러내기를 원하십니다.
Therefore, those who have returned to God do not rejoice only in their own restoration.
그러므로 하나님께 돌아온 사람은 자신의 회복만을 기뻐하는 사람이 아닙니다.
They reveal through their restored lives that God is alive and still transforming people today.
회복된 삶으로 하나님이 살아 계시고 지금도 사람을 변화시키신다는 사실을 드러내는 사람입니다.
When people look at our lives, they will say, “God has truly changed that person.”
우리의 삶을 본 사람들이 “하나님께서 저 사람을 변화시키셨구나.”라고 고백하게 되는 것입니다.
This is the “everlasting sign” God speaks about.
이것이 하나님께서 말씀하시는 ‘영원한 표징’입니다.
Those who have returned to God no longer believe that the thornbushes and briers in their lives are the end of their story.
그러므로 하나님께 돌아온 사람은 더 이상 가시와 찔레가 자신의 마지막이라고 믿지 않습니다.
They believe that God will turn wounds into restoration, tears into joy, and fear into peace.
하나님께서 상처를 회복으로, 눈물을 기쁨으로, 두려움을 평안으로 바꾸실 것을 믿습니다.
Entrust all your ways to the Lord, go forward with joy, and be led by His peace.
우리의 모든 길을 하나님께 맡기고 기쁨으로 나아가며 평안히 인도받으십시오.
May you live as blessed witnesses whose restored lives reveal that God is alive and still at work today.
