Before we begin, let me ask you a question.
말씀을 시작하기 전에 한 가지 질문을 드리겠습니다.
Have you ever had a dream that changed your life?
여러분은 인생을 바꾸는 꿈을 꾸어 보신 적이 있습니까?
Some dreams disappear as soon as we wake up.
어떤 꿈은 아침에 일어나면 금세 잊혀집니다.
But some dreams stay with us for a lifetime.
그러나 어떤 꿈은 우리의 삶을 바꾸기도 합니다.
There is a humorous story about dreams.
꿈에 관한 재미있는 이야기가 있습니다.
One man woke up in the morning and excitedly told his wife,
어느 날 아침 한 남자가 일어나 아내에게 신이 나서 말했습니다.
"Honey, I had a wonderful dream last night!"
"여보, 내가 어젯밤에 정말 좋은 꿈을 꿨어!"
"I dreamed that I became the president of a huge company."
"내가 아주 큰 회사의 사장이 되었어."
His wife smiled and asked,
아내가 웃으며 물었습니다.
"So, what happened next?"
"그래서 어떻게 됐어요?"
He answered,
남편이 대답했습니다.
"I woke up before I received my salary."
"월급 받기 전에 깼어."
Sometimes our dreams end too quickly.
우리의 꿈은 이렇게 허무하게 끝날 때가 있습니다.
However, the dream Solomon had was completely different.
그러나 솔로몬이 꾼 꿈은 전혀 달랐습니다.
It was not simply an interesting dream.
그것은 단순한 꿈이 아니었습니다.
It became the turning point of his life.
그의 인생을 바꾸는 전환점이 되었습니다.
More importantly, it reveals what kind of people God blesses and uses.
더 나아가 하나님께서 어떤 사람을 기뻐하시고 사용하시는지를 보여 줍니다.
Today, through Solomon's dream, let us listen to God's voice for our lives.
오늘 우리는 솔로몬의 꿈을 통해 우리를 향한 하나님의 음성을 듣고자 합니다.
1. Those Who Understand Their Calling First Offer Themselves to God. 4–8)
사명을 깨달은 사람은 하나님께 자신을 먼저 드립니다.
After becoming king, Solomon's first destination was Gibeon.
솔로몬은 왕이 된 후 가장 먼저 기브온으로 올라갔습니다.
There, he offered a thousand burnt offerings to the Lord.
그리고 하나님께 일천 번제를 드렸습니다.
"The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar."
"왕이 기브온으로 가서 거기서 제사를 드렸으니 이는 그 산당이 가장 크기 때문이라.
솔로몬이 그 제단에 일천 번제를 드렸더라."
As the new king, Solomon had many urgent responsibilities.
왕이 되었으니 해야 할 일이 얼마나 많았겠습니까.
He needed to establish order in the kingdom.
나라를 안정시켜야 했습니다.
He needed to gain the trust of his officials.
신하들의 마음도 얻어야 했습니다.
He needed to demonstrate his authority before the people.
백성들에게 새로운 왕의 권위를 보여 주어야 했습니다.
Yet before doing any of those things, Solomon first came before God.
그런데 솔로몬은 그 모든 일보다 하나님께 먼저 나아갔습니다.
Why?
왜 그랬을까요.
Because he did not see becoming king as merely a personal achievement.
그는 왕이 된 것을 자신의 성공이라고 생각하지 않았기 때문입니다.
He understood that it was a calling entrusted to him by God.
하나님께서 자신에게 맡기신 사명이라고 믿었기 때문입니다.
His own words reveal this truth.
이어지는 말씀에서 그 이유를 알 수 있습니다.
"Now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king in place of my father David, but I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.
"나를 내 아버지 다윗을 대신하여 왕으로 삼으셨사오나 나는 작은 아이라 출입할 줄을 알지 못하고.
Your servant is here among the people You have chosen."
주의 종은 주께서 택하신 백성 가운데 있나이다."
Notice what Solomon says.
솔로몬의 고백을 주목해 보십시오.
He does not speak of "my people."
그는 "내 백성"이라고 말하지 않았습니다.
Instead, he says, "Your people."
"주의 백성"이라고 고백했습니다.
He does not first identify himself as a king.
그는 먼저 자신을 왕이라고 소개하지 않았습니다.
He calls himself, "Your servant."
오히려 자신을 "주의 종"이라고 불렀습니다.
Solomon understood that he was not the owner of the kingdom.
솔로몬은 자신이 나라의 주인이 아니라는 사실을 알았습니다.
He was God's servant, entrusted with God's people.
그는 하나님의 백성을 맡은 하나님의 종이었습니다.
That is why offering himself to God was not a burden.

It was the natural response of someone who understood his calling.
사명을 깨달은 사람이 드리는 자연스러운 헌신이었습니다.
Jesus expressed the same principle when He called Peter and Andrew.
예수님께서도 베드로와 안드레를 부르실 때 같은 원리를 말씀하셨습니다.
"Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
"나를 따라오라.
내가 너희를 사람을 낚는 어부가 되게 하리라."
Jesus was not simply changing their occupation.
예수님은 그들의 직업을 바꾸려고 하신 것이 아니었습니다.
He was changing the purpose of their lives.
그분은 그들의 삶의 목적을 바꾸고 계셨습니다.
Before, they caught fish to earn a living.
이전에는 생계를 위해 물고기를 잡았습니다.
Now, they would live to bring people to life in Christ.
이제는 사람을 살리는 삶을 살게 되었습니다.
Receiving God's calling does not necessarily mean changing your profession.
하나님의 부르심을 받는다는 것은 직업이 바뀐다는 뜻이 아닙니다.
It means changing the reason you do what you do.
내가 하는 일의 이유가 바뀐다는 뜻입니다.
A doctor is not merely someone who earns a living through medicine.
의사는 단지 의술로 돈을 버는 사람이 아닙니다.
A doctor is someone entrusted by God to care for human life.
하나님께서 맡기신 생명을 돌보는 사람입니다.
A teacher is not merely someone who delivers knowledge.
교사는 단지 지식을 전달하는 사람이 아닙니다.
A teacher is entrusted by God to build the next generation.
하나님께서 맡기신 다음 세대를 세우는 사람입니다.
A business owner is not merely someone who makes a profit.
사업가는 단지 이익을 남기는 사람이 아닙니다.
A business owner is God's steward, called to lead a business with integrity, care for employees, and become a blessing to society.
하나님께서 맡기신 기업을 정직하게 세우고, 직원들을 책임 있게 돌보며, 세상에 선한 영향을 끼치는 청지기입니다.
Parents are not merely raising children of their own.
부모는 단지 자신의 자녀를 키우는 사람이 아닙니다.
They are raising lives that God has entrusted to them.
하나님께서 맡기신 생명을 믿음으로 세우는 사람입니다.
The work itself may remain the same.
하는 일은 그대로일 수 있습니다.
But the reason for doing it becomes completely different.
그러나 살아가는 이유는 완전히 달라집니다.
A hardworking person lives for personal success.
열심히 사는 사람은 자신의 성공을 위해 살아갑니다.
A person who lives by God's calling lives to glorify God and to bless the people God has entrusted to them.
사명을 따라 사는 사람은 하나님께 영광을 돌리고, 하나님께서 맡기신 사람들을 섬기기 위해 살아갑니다.
Today, God is speaking to each one of us.
오늘도 하나님께서는 우리에게 말씀하십니다.
"I did not place you where you are merely to become successful."
"내가 너를 지금 있는 자리에 세운 것은 성공만을 위해서가 아니다."
"I placed you there to love and serve the people I have entrusted to you and to reveal My glory through your life."
"내가 맡긴 사람들을 사랑하고 섬기며, 너의 삶을 통해 나의 영광을 드러내라고 너를 세웠다."
Have we become so busy that we have forgotten why God placed us where we are?
우리는 너무 바쁘게 살아가느라 하나님께서 왜 우리를 이 자리에 세우셨는지 잊고 있지는 않습니까?
Have we become occupied with our work while losing sight of God's purpose?
일은 열심히 하지만 하나님의 목적은 잃어버리고 있지는 않습니까?
Today, God calls us once again.
오늘 하나님께서는 다시 우리를 부르십니다.
"I am not asking you to leave your place."
"네 자리를 떠나라는 것이 아니다."
"Remember the calling I have given you."
"내가 너에게 맡긴 사명을 기억하라."
Those who hear this call will gladly offer themselves to God.
이 부르심을 듣는 사람은 하나님께 자신을 먼저 드립니다.
And God faithfully uses those who willingly offer themselves to accomplish His purposes.
그리고 하나님께서는 자신을 기꺼이 드리는 사람을 통해 하나님의 뜻을 이루어 가십니다.
May we all remember the mission God has entrusted to us and live with joyful devotion.
우리 모두 하나님께서 맡기신 사명을 기억하며 기쁨으로 헌신하는 삶이 되기를 축원합니다.
2. To Fulfill Our Calling, We Need a Listening Heart. (9–14)
사명을 감당하려면 듣는 마음이 필요합니다.
God was pleased with Solomon's wholehearted devotion.
하나님께서는 솔로몬의 헌신을 기쁘게 받으셨습니다.
Then God appeared to him in a dream and said,
그리고 꿈 가운데 나타나 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.
"Ask for whatever you want Me to give you."
"내가 네게 무엇을 줄꼬.
너는 구하라."
It was an extraordinary opportunity.
무엇이든 구할 수 있는 놀라운 기회였습니다.
A king could have asked for a powerful army.
왕이라면 강한 군대를 구할 수도 있었습니다.
He could have asked for great wealth.
많은 재물을 구할 수도 있었습니다.
He could have asked for a long life.
장수를 구할 수도 있었습니다.
He could have asked for victory over all his enemies.
원수들을 이길 힘을 구할 수도 있었습니다.
But Solomon prayed differently.
그러나 솔로몬의 기도는 달랐습니다.
"Give Your servant a listening heart to govern Your people and to distinguish between right and wrong."
"듣는 마음을 종에게 주사 주의 백성을 재판하여 선악을 분별하게 하옵소서."
Solomon first asked for a listening heart.
솔로몬은 먼저 듣는 마음을 구했습니다.
Why did he ask for a listening heart?
왜 듣는 마음을 구했을까요?
Because a king's responsibility was not to carry out his own will.
왕의 자리는 자기 뜻을 이루는 자리가 아니었기 때문입니다.
His responsibility was to accomplish God's will.
하나님의 뜻을 이루는 자리였기 때문입니다.
He needed to hear God's voice.
그는 하나님의 음성을 들어야 했습니다.
He also needed to hear the cries and needs of the people.
또한 백성들의 아픔과 필요에도 귀를 기울여야 했습니다.
Only then could he discern what was right and just.
그래야 무엇이 옳고 그른지 바르게 분별할 수 있었습니다.
In the Bible, listening means more than hearing sounds.
성경에서 듣는다는 것은 단순히 소리를 듣는 것이 아닙니다.
It means listening with a heart that is ready to obey.
순종하기 위해 듣는 것을 의미합니다.
So, God was pleased not merely with Solomon's ability, but with his heart.
그래서 하나님께서는 솔로몬의 능력보다 그의 마음을 기뻐하셨습니다.
The same is true for us today.
오늘 우리에게도 마찬가지입니다.
The greatest need for those who have received God's calling is not greater ability.
사명을 받은 사람에게 가장 필요한 것은 더 큰 능력이 아닙니다.
It is a listening heart.
듣는 마음입니다.
Parents who listen carefully to their children can truly understand them.
부모는 자녀의 말을 끝까지 들어 줄 때 자녀를 이해할 수 있습니다.
Teachers who listen to their students can discover each child's potential.
교사는 학생들의 마음을 들을 때 한 사람의 가능성을 발견할 수 있습니다.
Business leaders who listen to their employees and customers build companies that are trusted.
사업가는 직원들의 목소리를 듣고 고객의 필요를 들을 때 신뢰받는 기업을 세울 수 있습니다.
Pastors who listen to God's Word and to the struggles of God's people can faithfully shepherd the flock.
목회자는 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 성도들의 아픔을 들을 때 영혼을 바르게 돌볼 수 있습니다.
Above all, we must learn to listen to God's voice.
무엇보다 우리는 하나님의 음성을 들을 줄 아는 사람이 되어야 합니다.
We often spend much time speaking to God.
우리는 하나님께 많은 말을 합니다.
But how much time do we spend quietly listening to Him through His Word?
그러나 하나님의 말씀 앞에서 조용히 귀를 기울이는 시간은 얼마나 됩니까?
We pray many prayers.
우리는 많은 기도를 드립니다.
But do we sincerely seek God's will?
그만큼 하나님의 뜻을 구하고 있습니까?
Today, God is still speaking to us.
오늘도 하나님께서는 우리에게 말씀하십니다.
"Listen to My voice."
"내 음성을 들어라."
"Seek My will before your own."
"네 생각보다 내 뜻을 먼저 구하여라."
"Pay attention to where I am leading you."
"내가 너를 어디로 인도하는지 귀를 기울여라."
Those who listen to God's voice will not be easily shaken.
하나님의 음성을 듣는 사람은 쉽게 흔들리지 않습니다.
Those who listen to God's voice are not controlled by the opinions of people.
하나님의 음성을 듣는 사람은 사람들의 말에 휘둘리지 않습니다.
Those who listen to God's voice receive wisdom to make the right decisions.
하나님의 음성을 듣는 사람은 무엇을 선택해야 할지 분별할 수 있습니다.
God still gives wisdom to those who have a listening heart.
하나님께서는 지금도 듣는 마음을 가진 사람에게 지혜를 주십니다.
He gives discernment.
분별력을 주십니다.
He gives strength to fulfill the calling He has entrusted to them.
맡기신 사명을 끝까지 감당할 힘을 주십니다.
May we all listen to God’s voice with obedient hearts and faithfully discern His will.
우리 모두 순종하는 마음으로 하나님의 음성을 듣고, 그 뜻을 바르게 분별하는 삶이 되기를 축원합니다.
3. When We Walk in God's Ways, God Fills Our Lives with His Blessings. (11–15)
하나님의 말씀대로 살아갈 때 하나님께서 우리의 삶을 채우십니다.
God was pleased with Solomon's prayer.
하나님께서는 솔로몬의 기도를 기쁘게 받으셨습니다.
Then He said,
그리고 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.
"Because you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies, but have asked for discernment in administering justice..."
"네가 이것을 구하도다.
자기를 위하여 장수하기를 구하지 아니하며.
부도 구하지 아니하며.
자기 원수의 생명도 구하지 아니하고.
오직 송사를 듣고 분별하는 것을 구하였은즉."
I will do what you have asked.
내가 네 말대로 하여.
I will give you a wise and discerning heart.
지혜롭고 총명한 마음을 네게 주노니.
There will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.
네 앞에도 너와 같은 자가 없었거니와 네 뒤에도 너와 같은 자가 일어남이 없으리라.
Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both riches and honor.
또 네가 구하지 아니한 부귀도 네게 주노니.
God was pleased with what Solomon desired.
하나님께서는 솔로몬이 구한 것을 기뻐하셨습니다.
So He gave Solomon wisdom.
그래서 하나님께서는 솔로몬에게 지혜를 주셨습니다.
He also promised to give him riches and honor, even though Solomon had not asked for them.
뿐만 아니라 그가 구하지 않았던 부와 영광까지도 함께 주시겠다고 약속하셨습니다.
But God did not stop there.
그러나 하나님은 여기에서 말씀을 끝내지 않으셨습니다.
He gave Solomon one important command.
솔로몬에게 한 가지 중요한 명령을 하셨습니다.
"And if you walk in obedience to Me and keep My decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life."
"네가 만일 네 아버지 다윗이 행함 같이 내 길로 행하며 내 법도와 명령을 지키면 내가 또 네 날을 길게 하리라."
Unfortunately, Solomon did not remain faithful to this command throughout his life.
안타깝게도 솔로몬은 평생 이 말씀에 끝까지 순종하지 못했습니다.
Later in life, he chose paths that God had forbidden.
후반기에 그는 하나님께서 금하신 길을 선택했습니다.
His heart gradually turned away from the Lord.
그의 마음은 점점 하나님에게서 멀어졌습니다.
As a result, his kingdom began to weaken.
결국 그의 나라도 흔들리기 시작했습니다.
The problem was not that he lacked wisdom.
문제는 지혜가 부족해서가 아니었습니다.
The problem was that he failed to obey.
순종하지 않았기 때문입니다.
The same is true for us today.
우리에게도 마찬가지입니다.
The goal of the Christian life is not simply to know God's Word.
신앙의 목표는 말씀을 많이 아는 것이 아닙니다.
The goal is to live out God's Word every day.
들은 말씀을 삶으로 살아내는 것입니다.
Today, God is speaking to us once again.
오늘도 하나님께서는 우리에게 말씀하십니다.
"Walk in My ways."
"내 길로 걸어라."
"Keep My commandments."
"내 말씀을 지켜라."
"Then I will take care of your life."
"그러면 내가 네 삶을 책임지겠다."
Jesus taught the same truth.
예수님께서도 같은 말씀을 하셨습니다.
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
"너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라.
그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라."
God already knows everything we need.
하나님은 우리에게 필요한 것을 이미 알고 계십니다.
When we choose His way first, He faithfully provides what we truly need.
우리가 먼저 하나님의 길을 선택할 때 하나님께서는 우리에게 가장 좋은 것으로 채워 주십니다.
Therefore, let us remember the calling God has given us.
그러므로 하나님께서 맡기신 사명을 기억합시다.
Let us listen carefully to His voice.
하나님의 음성에 귀를 기울입시다.
And let us faithfully obey His Word.
그리고 들은 말씀에 순종하며 살아갑시다.
Then God will lead our lives and accomplish His good purpose through us.
그때 하나님께서는 우리의 삶을 책임지시고, 우리를 통해 하나님의 뜻을 이루어 가실 것입니다.
May we all walk in the Lord’s ways, obey His Word, and live under God’s faithful guidance.
우리 모두 주님의 길로 행하고 하나님의 말씀에 순종하며, 하나님의 신실한 인도하심 가운데 살아가기를 축원합니다.
Let us summarize today's message.
말씀을 정리하겠습니다.
Solomon's dream is not merely the story of a successful king.
솔로몬의 꿈은 한 성공한 왕의 이야기가 아닙니다.
It teaches us how those who have received God's calling should live.
하나님의 부르심을 받은 사람이 어떻게 살아야 하는지를 보여 주는 하나님의 말씀입니다.
Today, God is calling us.
오늘도 하나님께서는 우리를 부르십니다.
"Remember why I have placed you where you are."
"내가 너를 세운 이유를 기억하라."
Today, God is leading us.
오늘도 하나님께서는 우리를 이끄십니다.
"Listen to My voice."
"내 음성을 들어라."
Today, God commands us.
오늘도 하나님께서는 우리에게 명하십니다.
"Walk in My ways, and I will take care of your life."

Our professions may be different.
우리의 직업은 서로 다를 수 있습니다.
But our calling is the same.

We are called to glorify God and to bring life and hope to others.
하나님께 영광을 돌리고 사람을 살리는 삶을 살아가는 것입니다.
May we remember God's calling wherever He has placed us.
하나님께서 세우신 자리에서 맡기신 사명을 기억하기를 바랍니다.
May we listen carefully to His voice.
하나님의 음성에 귀를 기울이기를 바랍니다.
May we faithfully obey His Word every day.
그리고 하나님의 말씀에 순종하며 살아가기를 바랍니다.
Then, just as God blessed Solomon, He will graciously guide and provide for our lives.
그때 하나님께서 솔로몬을 축복하셨던 것처럼 우리의 삶도 은혜로 인도하시고 풍성히 채워 주실 것입니다.
