Living in the Kingdom by Hearing, Seeing, and Understanding
마태복음 Matthew 13:10-23
Some people say to me, “Pastor, I always listen to your sermons very carefully.”
어떤 분이 제게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “목사님, 저는 설교를 정말 잘 듣습니다.”
So I asked, “Then what was last Sunday’s sermon title?”
그래서 제가 물었습니다. “그러면 지난주 설교 제목이 무엇이었습니까?”
After thinking for a while, the person replied, “Pastor… did you preach last Sunday?”
그분은 한참 생각하시더니 이렇게 대답했습니다. “목사님… 지난주에도 설교하셨나요?”
We laugh, but if we are honest, this is not only someone else’s story.
우리는 웃지만, 사실 남의 이야기만은 아닙니다.
Every Sunday we listen to God’s Word, read the Bible, have our daily devotions, and meditate on the Word.
우리는 매주 하나님의 말씀을 듣고, 성경도 읽고, QT도 하며, 말씀을 묵상합니다.
Yet by Monday, we often cannot remember what we heard.
그런데 월요일이 되면 무엇을 들었는지 잘 기억나지 않을 때가 있습니다.
However, what Jesus is addressing today is not simply whether our memory is good or poor.
그러나 오늘 예수님께서 말씀하시는 문제는 단순히 기억력이 좋으냐 나쁘냐의 문제가 아닙니다.
Neither is it merely a question of whether we heard the message.
말씀을 들었느냐의 문제만도 아닙니다.
The real question is whether we hear, see, understand, and live according to God’s Word.
진짜 중요한 것은 말씀을 듣고, 보고, 깨달아 그 말씀대로 살아가고 있느냐는 것입니다.
Many people heard Jesus teach and witnessed the miracles He performed.
예수님 당시에도 많은 사람이 주님의 말씀을 듣고, 주님께서 행하시는 기적을 보았습니다.
Yet not everyone understood the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven.
그러나 모두가 하나님 나라의 비밀을 깨달은 것은 아니었습니다.
Although they heard the same message and saw the same works, some believed while others did not.
같은 말씀을 듣고 같은 일을 보았지만, 어떤 사람은 믿었고 어떤 사람은 믿지 않았습니다.
Some were transformed, while others remained in their own thoughts and ways.
어떤 사람은 변화되었지만, 어떤 사람은 여전히 자기 생각과 자기 방식에 머물렀습니다.
Why was there such a difference?
왜 이런 차이가 생겼을까요?
It was not because the seed was different.
씨앗이 달랐기 때문이 아닙니다.
The seed was always the same Word of God.
씨앗은 모두 동일한 하나님의 말씀이었습니다.
The difference was in the condition of the soil that received the seed.
차이는 씨앗을 받아들이는 마음밭에 있었습니다.
The heart like a path was too hard for the Word to enter.
길가와 같은 마음에는 말씀이 들어가지 못했습니다.
The heart like rocky soil did not allow the Word to take deep root.
돌밭과 같은 마음에는 말씀이 깊이 뿌리내리지 못했습니다.
The heart filled with thorns allowed worries and desires to choke the Word, so it could not bear fruit.
가시떨기와 같은 마음에는 말씀이 염려와 욕심에 막혀 열매를 맺지 못했습니다.
The prophet Jeremiah said, “Break up your unplowed ground, and do not sow among thorns.”
예레미야 선지자는 “너희 묵은 땅을 갈고 가시덤불에 파종하지 말라.”라고 말씀하십니다.
Unplowed ground does not become good soil by itself.
묵은 땅은 저절로 좋은 밭이 되지 않습니다.
The hardened ground must be broken up, the rocks must be removed, and the thorns must be pulled out.
굳은 땅을 갈고, 돌을 골라내며, 가시를 뽑아내야 합니다.
The same is true of our hearts.
우리의 마음도 마찬가지입니다.
If we are to hear, see, understand, and live the life of God’s Kingdom, the unplowed ground of our hearts must be cultivated.
우리가 말씀을 듣고, 보고, 깨달으며 하나님 나라의 삶을 살아가기 위해서는 우리의 묵은 마음밭을 기경해야 합니다.
Today Jesus shows us three ways to cultivate and renew our hearts.
오늘 예수님께서는 우리의 마음밭을 기경하고 새롭게 하기 위한 세 가지 길을 보여 주십니다.
First, we must decide to trust God and continue to hold on to that faith.
첫째, 하나님을 믿기로 결단하고 그 믿음을 지속적으로 붙들어야 합니다.
Second, we must be deeply rooted in the love of Jesus Christ.
둘째, 예수 그리스도의 사랑에 깊이 뿌리를 내려야 합니다.
Third, we must live a life overflowing with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
셋째, 성령의 능력으로 소망이 넘치는 삶을 살아가야 합니다.
May our hardened hearts be softened today, may our faith take deep root, and may we bear abundant fruit for the Kingdom of God.
오늘 우리의 굳은 마음이 부드러워지고, 믿음이 깊이 뿌리내리며, 하나님 나라의 풍성한 열매를 맺는 우리 모두가 되기를 바랍니다.
1. Decide to Trust God and Continue to Hold on to That Faith. (18–19)
하나님을 믿기로 결단하고 그 믿음을 지속적으로 붙듭니다.
God explains the seed that fell along the path in this way:
예수님께서는 길가에 떨어진 씨를 이렇게 설명하십니다.
“Anyone who hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.” (Matthew 13:19, NIV)
“아무나 천국 말씀을 듣고 깨닫지 못할 때에는 악한 자가 와서 그 마음에 뿌려진 것을 빼앗나니 이는 곧 길가에 뿌려진 자요.” (마태복음 13:19)
The seed is the Word of God.
씨는 하나님의 말씀입니다.
The problem is not the seed.
문제는 씨가 아닙니다.
The problem is the condition of our hearts that receive the Word.
문제는 말씀을 받는 우리의 마음입니다.
A path becomes hard because countless people have walked over it.
길가는 수많은 사람들이 오랫동안 밟고 다녀 단단하게 굳어진 땅입니다.
When the seed falls on the path, it cannot sink into the soil.
씨가 떨어져도 땅속으로 들어가지 못합니다.
Soon the birds come and eat it.
결국 새들이 와서 먹어 버립니다.
Jesus says this is the heart that hears the Word but does not understand it.
예수님께서는 이것을 말씀을 듣고도 깨닫지 못하는 사람의 마음이라고 하셨습니다.
Why does this happen?
왜 그럴까요?
It is not simply because the message is difficult to understand.
단지 말씀이 어려워서가 아닙니다.
It is because we do not truly trust God.
하나님을 신뢰하지 않기 때문입니다.
People listen carefully to those they trust.
사람은 자신이 신뢰하는 사람의 말에는 귀를 기울입니다.
But they easily ignore the words of those they do not trust.
그러나 신뢰하지 않는 사람의 말은 쉽게 흘려듣습니다.
Our relationship with God is no different.
하나님과의 관계도 마찬가지입니다.
If we do not trust God, we may hear His Word with our ears, but it never reaches our hearts.
하나님을 믿지 못하면 말씀은 들려도 마음에 들어오지 않습니다.
Then the evil one quickly snatches it away.
그래서 사탄은 그 말씀을 쉽게 빼앗아 갑니다.
This is how I define faith.
저는 믿음을 이렇게 정의하고 싶습니다.
Faith is continually choosing to hold on to the God we have come to know through Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures.
믿음은 성경이 증언하는 예수 그리스도를 통해 알게 된 하나님을 우리의 의지로 지속적으로 붙드는 것입니다.
Faith is not wishful thinking.
믿음은 막연한 긍정이 아닙니다.
It is not a passing emotion.
순간적인 감정도 아닙니다.
Faith is a daily decision to trust the God who has revealed Himself through His Word.
믿음은 말씀을 통해 자신을 나타내신 하나님을 날마다 신뢰하기로 선택하는 것입니다.
Some people say, “I just don't have faith.”
어떤 사람은 “저는 믿음이 없습니다.”라고 말합니다.
But the Bible clearly tells us where faith comes from.
그러나 성경은 믿음이 어디에서 오는지를 분명히 말씀합니다.
“So then faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
“그러므로 믿음은 들음에서 나며 들음은 그리스도의 말씀으로 말미암았느니라.” (로마서 10:17)
Faith grows as we continue to hear God's Word.
믿음은 하나님의 말씀을 계속 들을 때 자라납니다.
Think about any healthy relationship.
사람과의 관계를 생각해 보십시오.
You cannot say, “I don't trust that person,” if you never spend time with them, never talk with them, and never get to know them.
만나지도 않고, 대화하지도 않고, 그 사람을 알려고 하지 않으면서 “나는 그 사람을 믿지 못합니다.”라고 말할 수는 없습니다.
Trust grows through a relationship.
신뢰는 관계 속에서 자랍니다.
Our relationship with God is the same.
하나님과의 관계도 마찬가지입니다.
The more we listen to His Word, pray, and come to know who He is, the deeper our faith becomes.
말씀을 듣고, 기도하며, 하나님이 어떤 분이신지를 알아 갈수록 우리의 믿음은 더욱 깊어집니다.
Abraham chose to hold on to God's promise.
아브라함은 하나님의 약속을 붙들었습니다.
Joshua declared, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
여호수아는 “오직 나와 내 집은 여호와를 섬기겠노라.”라고 결단했습니다.
Daniel chose to trust God even when he was thrown into the lions' den.
다니엘은 사자굴 앞에서도 하나님을 의지하기로 선택했습니다.
Faith is not a one-time emotional experience.
믿음은 한 번의 감동으로 끝나는 것이 아닙니다.
It is choosing to trust God today,
오늘도 하나님을 믿고,
Choosing to trust Him again tomorrow,
내일도 하나님을 믿고,
And continuing to trust Him even when we do not understand our circumstances.
이해되지 않는 순간에도 하나님을 신뢰하기로 선택하는 것입니다.
As we continue to hold on to God,
그렇게 하나님을 붙드는 사람의 마음에는
His Word begins to take deep root in our hearts.
하나님의 말씀이 깊이 뿌리를 내리기 시작합니다.
Perhaps today our trust has shifted away from God.
혹시 오늘 우리의 믿음은 하나님이 아니라 다른 곳에 머물러 있지는 않습니까?
Are we placing our confidence in wealth,
재산을 더 의지하고,
Our health,
건강을 더 의지하고,
The approval of others,
사람의 인정을 더 의지하고,
Or our own experience and ability instead of God?
자신의 경험과 능력을 더 의지하며 살아가고 있지는 않습니까?
Even as God's children, our eyes can easily be drawn away from Him.
하나님의 자녀인 우리도 하나님에게서 시선을 빼앗길 때가 있습니다.
We may focus more on our problems than on God,
문제가 너무 커 보여 하나님보다 문제를 더 바라보고,
Hold on to our wounds more than His promises,
상처가 너무 깊어 하나님의 약속보다 상처를 더 붙들고,
Or rely on our own calculations more than God's faithfulness.
미래가 불안하여 하나님의 신실하심보다 자신의 계산을 더 의지할 때가 있습니다.
Yet God does not condemn us.
그러나 하나님은 그런 우리를 정죄하지 않으십니다.
Instead, He gently calls us back.
오히려 사랑으로, 부드러운 음성으로 우리를 다시 부르십니다.
“My son, My daughter, look to Me again.”
“내 아들아, 내 딸아, 다시 나를 바라보아라.”
“Hold on to Me, not to the world.”
“네가 붙들어야 할 것은 세상이 아니라 나다.”
“Trust in My faithfulness, not in your own strength.”
“네가 의지해야 할 것은 네 능력이 아니라 나의 신실함이다.”
Like Jesus reaching out His hand to Peter in the storm,
풍랑 속에서 물에 빠져가던 베드로에게 손을 내밀어 붙잡아 주셨던 예수님처럼,
The Lord is reaching out His hand to us today.
오늘도 주님은 우리에게 손을 내미십니다.
“Trust Me again.”
“다시 나를 믿어라.”
“Listen to My Word again.”
“다시 내 말을 들어라.”
“Hold on to Me again.”
“다시 나를 붙들어라.”
The Lord does not call only those with perfect faith.
주님은 믿음이 완전한 사람만 부르시는 것이 아닙니다.
He calls those whose faith has become weak,
믿음이 약해진 사람도,
Those who have lost their focus,
시선을 잃어버린 사람도,
And those who are shaken by fear and wounds.
상처와 두려움 때문에 흔들리는 사람도
He invites us all to return to Him.
다시 하나님께 돌아오도록 초청하십니다.
Today, may we respond to His gracious invitation by deciding once again to trust God and by holding firmly to that faith until the end.
오늘 그 주님의 부르심에 응답하여 하나님을 믿기로 다시 결단하고, 그 믿음을 끝까지 붙드는 우리 모두가 되기를 축복합니다.
2. Be Deeply Rooted in the Love of Jesus Christ. (20–21)
예수 그리스도의 사랑에 깊이 뿌리를 내립니다.
The first kind of soil was about faith.
첫 번째 마음밭은 믿음의 문제였습니다.
They could not receive the Word because they did not trust God.
하나님을 신뢰하지 못하니 말씀이 마음에 들어오지 못했습니다.
Then what does a person who has chosen to trust God need next?
그렇다면 하나님을 믿기로 결단한 사람에게는 이제 무엇이 필요할까요?
Our faith must grow deep roots in the love of Jesus Christ.
그 믿음이 끝까지 자라도록 예수 그리스도의 사랑에 깊이 뿌리를 내리는 것입니다.
Jesus explained the seed sown on rocky ground in this way:
예수님께서는 돌밭에 떨어진 씨를 이렇게 설명하십니다.
“The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.” (Matthew 13:20–21, NIV)
“돌밭에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 즉시 기쁨으로 받되 그 속에 뿌리가 없어 잠시 견디다가 말씀으로 말미암아 환난이나 박해가 일어날 때에는 곧 넘어지는 자요.” (마태복음 13:20–21)
Rocky ground is different from the path.
돌밭은 길가와는 다릅니다.
The seed enters the soil.
씨가 들어갑니다.
It even begins to sprout.
싹도 납니다.
At first, everything seems to be growing well.
처음에는 아주 잘 자라는 것처럼 보입니다.
But beneath the surface lies a layer of rock.
그러나 흙 아래에는 단단한 바위층이 있습니다.
The roots cannot grow deep.
뿌리가 깊이 내려가지 못합니다.
When the scorching sun comes, the plant quickly withers.
햇볕이 뜨거워지면 금세 말라 버립니다.
Jesus said this represents those who receive the Word with joy but do not endure.
예수님은 이것을 말씀을 기쁨으로 받지만 오래 견디지 못하는 사람이라고 하셨습니다.
Our spiritual lives can be the same.
우리의 신앙도 이와 같습니다.
At first, we are filled with joy, gratitude, and excitement.
처음에는 은혜도 받고, 감동도 받고, 기쁨이 넘칩니다.
But when trials come, when prayers seem unanswered, when people hurt us, or when following Christ costs us something, we can easily become discouraged.
그러나 환난이 찾아오고, 기도가 원하는 대로 응답되지 않는 것 같고, 사람에게 상처를 받고, 믿음 때문에 손해를 보게 되면 쉽게 흔들릴 수 있습니다.
The problem is not the trial itself.
문제는 시련이 있다는 것이 아닙니다.
The problem is that our roots are too shallow.
뿌리가 얕다는 것입니다.
Where, then, should our roots grow?
그렇다면 우리의 뿌리는 어디에 내려야 할까요?
The apostle Paul writes,
사도 바울은 이렇게 말씀합니다.
“…that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love...” (Ephesians 3:17, NIV)
“믿음으로 말미암아 그리스도께서 너희 마음에 계시게 하시옵고 너희가 사랑 가운데서 뿌리가 박히고 터가 굳어져…” (에베소서 3:17)
Our roots must grow deep into the love of Jesus Christ.
우리의 뿌리는 예수 그리스도의 사랑 안에 내려야 합니다.
Too often we root our lives in people's approval,
우리는 종종 사람의 인정에 뿌리를 내립니다.
In our position,
직분에 뿌리를 내립니다.
In the results of our ministry,
사역의 열매에 뿌리를 내립니다.
Or in our health and success.
건강과 형통에 뿌리를 내립니다.
But all of these things can change.
그러나 그런 것들은 언제든지 흔들릴 수 있습니다.
People change.
사람은 변하고,
Circumstances change.
환경도 변하며,
Even our emotions change.
우리의 감정도 변합니다.
But the love of Jesus Christ never changes.
그러나 예수님의 사랑은 결코 변하지 않습니다.
That love was fully revealed at the cross.
그 사랑은 십자가에서 완전히 드러났습니다.
At the time of the Exodus, God commanded His people to put the blood of the Passover lamb on the doorposts and the lintel of their houses.
출애굽 당시 하나님께서는 어린양의 피를 문설주와 인방에 바르게 하셨습니다.
Everyone under the blood was spared from judgment and received life.
그 피 아래에 있는 사람들은 심판을 받지 않고 생명을 얻었습니다.
This pointed forward to Jesus Christ, the true Passover Lamb, who would shed His blood on the cross.
이것은 장차 십자가에서 피 흘리실 예수 그리스도를 미리 보여 주신 사건입니다.
Today we no longer put blood on our doorposts.
오늘 우리는 문설주에 피를 바르는 것이 아닙니다.
Instead, we must let the grace of Christ's blood be written upon our hearts.
대신 우리의 마음에 예수 그리스도의 보혈의 은혜를 새겨야 합니다.
Every day we look to the cross and confess,
날마다 십자가를 바라보며 이렇게 고백해야 합니다.
“I am not defined by my failures.”
“나는 실패로 규정되는 사람이 아니다.”
“I am not defined by the opinions of others.”
“나는 사람들의 평가로 결정되는 사람이 아니다.”
“I am loved so deeply that the Son of God gave His life for me.”
“나는 하나님의 아들이 자신의 생명을 내어 주실 만큼 사랑받는 사람이다.”
When this gospel reaches the deepest part of our hearts,
이 복음이 마음 깊은 곳까지 내려갈 때,
Our roots become deep and strong.
비로소 우리의 뿌리가 깊어집니다.
When trials come, we remember the cross.
환난이 와도 십자가를 기억합니다.
When we are wounded, we remember the cross.
상처를 받아도 십자가를 기억합니다.
Even when we fall, we remember the cross.
넘어질 때도 십자가를 기억합니다.
Because the cross is God's unchanging proof of His love for us.
십자가는 어떤 상황에서도 변하지 않는 하나님의 사랑의 증거이기 때문입니다.
Some of us may still carry deep wounds in our hearts.
우리 가운데는 아직도 마음 깊은 곳에 오래된 상처를 안고 살아가는 분들이 있습니다.
Perhaps you have been hurt by people and find it difficult to believe that you are loved.
사람에게 받은 상처 때문에 자신이 사랑받는 존재라는 사실을 믿기 어려운 분도 있습니다.
Perhaps your past failures have convinced you that even God must be disappointed with you.
실패의 경험 때문에 하나님도 나를 실망하셨을 것이라고 생각하는 분도 있습니다.
Satan constantly reminds us of our past and accuses us.
사탄은 우리의 과거를 끊임없이 들추어내며 우리를 정죄합니다.
But the Holy Spirit always points us to the cross.
그러나 성령님은 언제나 우리를 십자가 앞으로 인도하십니다.
“I have loved you this much.”
“내가 너를 이만큼 사랑했다.”
“You are already forgiven.”
“너는 이미 용서받은 사람이다.”
“You are My beloved child.”
“너는 내 사랑 안에 있는 자녀다.”
Today, Jesus invites us once again to come to the cross.
오늘도 주님은 우리를 십자가 앞으로 초청하십니다.
“Be deeply rooted in My love.”
“내 사랑 안에 깊이 뿌리를 내려라.”
“Let the grace of My blood fill your heart.”
“내 보혈의 은혜를 마음에 새겨라.”
“Live by My love, not by the approval of people.”
“사람의 사랑이 아니라 나의 사랑으로 살아가라.”
A person who is deeply rooted in the love of Christ is not someone who never faces trials.
예수 그리스도의 사랑에 깊이 뿌리를 내린 사람은 시련이 없는 사람이 아닙니다.
It is someone who remains unshaken in the midst of trials.
시련 속에서도 흔들리지 않는 사람입니다.
When the love of the cross becomes the root of our lives,
십자가의 사랑이 우리의 삶의 뿌리가 될 때,
We will stand firm, endure every trial, and bear lasting fruit for the Kingdom of God.
우리는 어떤 환난과 박해 속에서도 끝까지 믿음을 지키며 하나님 나라의 풍성한 열매를 맺게 될 것입니다.
3. Live a Life Overflowing with Hope Through the Power of the Holy Spirit. (22–23)
성령의 능력으로 소망이 넘치는 삶을 살아갑니다.
The first kind of soil was about faith.
첫 번째 마음밭은 믿음의 문제였습니다.
The second kind of soil was about roots.
두 번째 마음밭은 뿌리의 문제였습니다.
Then what does Jesus teach us through the seed sown among the thorns?
그렇다면 마지막으로 예수님께서는 가시떨기에 떨어진 씨를 통해 무엇을 말씀하실까요?
He is teaching us about a life that loses hope.
소망을 빼앗기는 삶의 문제를 말씀하십니다.
Jesus said,
예수님께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.
“The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.” (Matthew 13:22, NIV)
“가시떨기에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 들으나 세상의 염려와 재물의 유혹에 말씀이 막혀 결실하지 못하는 자요.” (마태복음 13:22)
The seed is alive.
씨는 살아 있습니다.
It has taken root.
뿌리도 내렸습니다.
Yet it bears no fruit.
그러나 열매를 맺지 못합니다.
Why?
왜입니까?
Because the thorns grow alongside it.
가시가 함께 자라기 때문입니다.
Jesus identifies those thorns as the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth.
예수님은 그 가시를 세상의 염려와 재물의 유혹이라고 말씀하십니다.
Worry fills our hearts with fear about tomorrow.
염려는 미래를 향한 두려움입니다.
The deceitfulness of wealth tempts us to trust the world more than God.
재물의 유혹은 하나님보다 세상을 더 의지하게 만드는 힘입니다.
Thorns do not appear overnight.
가시는 하루아침에 자라지 않습니다.
They grow little by little.
조금씩 자랍니다.
At first they seem harmless.
처음에는 별것 아닌 것처럼 보입니다.
But over time they take over the space where God's Word should grow.
그러나 시간이 지나면 말씀이 자라야 할 자리를 모두 차지해 버립니다.
The same thing can happen in our lives.
우리의 삶도 마찬가지입니다.
We may spend more time worrying than praying.
기도보다 걱정하는 시간이 더 많아질 수 있습니다.
We may pay more attention to the news than to God's Word.
말씀보다 뉴스를 더 많이 보게 될 수 있습니다.
We may trust our bank account more than God's promises.
하나님의 약속보다 통장의 숫자를 더 의지하게 될 수도 있습니다.
Before we know it, we still believe in Jesus,
그러면 어느새 예수님은 믿지만,
Yet our joy is gone.
기쁨은 사라지고,
Our gratitude fades away,
감사는 메말라가며,
And our hearts become filled with worry.
우리의 마음은 염려로 가득 차게 됩니다.
As a result, we fail to bear fruit.
그래서 열매를 맺지 못하게 됩니다.
Jesus did not simply tell us, “Do not worry.”
예수님은 단지 “염려하지 말라.”고만 말씀하지 않으셨습니다.
He gave us the Holy Spirit.
우리에게 성령님을 보내 주셨습니다.
The apostle Paul writes,
사도 바울은 이렇게 말씀합니다.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13, NIV)
“소망의 하나님이 모든 기쁨과 평강을 믿음 안에서 너희에게 충만하게 하사 성령의 능력으로 소망이 넘치게 하시기를 원하노라.” (로마서 15:13)
Hope is not positive thinking.

Hope is the confident assurance that God will fulfill His promises.

The Holy Spirit turns our eyes from our circumstances to God.

From worry to God's promises,

And from despair to hope.

A person filled with the Holy Spirit is not someone who has no problems.
성령으로 충만한 사람은 문제가 없는 사람이 아닙니다.
It is someone who never loses hope because God is with them.

Perhaps there are thorns growing in our hearts today.

Worries about the future,

Concerns for our children,

Fear about our health,

Financial burdens,

When these things fill our hearts,

There is little room left for God's Word to grow.

Even now, the Holy Spirit lifts up discouraged hearts,

And fills those in despair with the hope of heaven.

Therefore, we must seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit every day.
