우리를 도우시는 하나님
시편 121:1-8
서론 — 도움의 필요
살다 보면 도무지 길이 보이지 않고, 내 힘으로는 아무것도 바꿀 수 없다는 생각이 들 때가 있습니다.
There are times in life when we see no way forward and feel that there is nothing we can do to change our situation.
그럴 때 사람들은 각자 도움을 찾습니다.
At such times, people seek help in different ways.
어떤 사람은 돈을, 어떤 사람은 사람을, 또 어떤 사람은 기술이나 지식을 의지합니다.
Some look to money, others to people, and still others rely on skill or knowledge.
하지만 아무리 손을 뻗어도, 끝내 잡히지 않는 순간이 있습니다.
But no matter how far we reach, there are moments when nothing seems to come within our grasp.
그때 우리는 속으로 “이제 누구에게 도움을 구해야 하지?” 라고 말하며 한숨 쉬게 됩니다.
At that moment, we sigh and ask ourselves, “Who can I turn to for help now?”
시편 121편의 시인은 바로 그 물음 앞에 섰습니다.
The psalmist of Psalm 121 stood before that very question.
그는 산을 바라보며 이렇게 고백합니다. “내가 산을 향하여 눈을 들리라, 나의 도움이 어디서 올까?”
He looked to the hills and confessed, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?”
그의 질문은 “진짜 나를 도울 수 있는 분은 누구인가?”라는 인생에서 가장 본질적인 물음이었습니다.
His question, “Who can truly help me?”, was the most fundamental question of life.
오늘 말씀은 그 질문에 대한 대답입니다.
Today’s message gives the answer to that question.
우리의 도움이 어디서 오는지, 어떤 하나님이 우리를 붙드시고 지키시는지를 함께 살펴보려 합니다.
Where our help comes from, and what kind of God upholds and protects us, we will discover together.
1.하나님은 천지를 지으신 분이십니다 (1–2)
God is the Creator of heaven and earth.
시편 기자는 이렇게 고백합니다. “내가 산을 향하여 눈을 들리라.”
The psalmist declares, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains.”
그 산은 단순한 자연의 풍경이 아니라, 하나님의 성전이 있는 시온산입니다.
That mountain was not just a scenic view—it was Mount Zion, where the temple of God stood.
그는 어려운 순례의 길 한가운데서, 하나님이 계신 그곳을 바라보며 마음을 다잡습니다.
In the midst of a difficult pilgrimage, he steadied his heart by looking toward the place where God dwelled.
인생을 살다 보면 누구에게나 산이 있습니다.
In life, everyone faces their own mountain.
해결되지 않는 문제, 반복되는 걱정, 마음 깊은 곳의 불안함이 우리 앞을 가로막을 때가 있습니다.
There are times when unresolved problems, recurring worries, and deep inner fears stand before us.
그럴 때 우리도 시편 기자처럼 눈을 들어, 하나님이 계신 곳을 바라보아야 합니다.
In such moments, we too must lift our eyes, like the psalmist, and look toward where God dwells.
하나님은 우리의 도움의 근원이십니다
God Is the Source of Our Help
시인은 사람에게서 도움을 찾지 않았습니다.
The psalmist did not look to people for help.
환경이 좋아지길 기다리지도 않았습니다.
He didn’t wait for his circumstances to improve.
그의 시선은 하나님께 고정되어 있었습니다.
His gaze was fixed on God.
그렇다고 해서 “하나님이 다 하시니 나는 아무것도 하지 않아도 된다”는 뜻은 아닙니다.
This doesn’t mean, “Since God does everything, I don’t need to do anything.”
하나님을 의지하는 믿음은 인간의 책임을 무시하지 않습니다.
Faith that trusts in God never ignores human responsibility.
오히려 그 믿음이 우리로 하여금 담대히 현실 속에서 행동하게 만듭니다.
Rather, that faith gives us courage to act faithfully in reality.
아브람의 길 – 믿음은 방향이 있는 순종입니다
The Journey of Abram — Faith Is Obedience with Direction
아브람이 그랬습니다.
Abram was like that.
하나님께서 “내가 네게 보여 줄 땅으로 가라”고 하셨을 때, 그는 막연히 떠난 것이 아니었습니다.
When God said, “Go to the land I will show you,” he didn’t leave aimlessly.
창세기 12장 5절을 보면 이렇게 기록되어 있습니다. “그들이 가나안 땅으로 가려고 떠나서 마침내 가나안 땅에 들어갔더라.”
Genesis 12:5 tells us, “They set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.”
아브람은 “가나안으로 가려고” 떠났습니다.
Abram set out to go to Canaan.
하나님의 인도하심을 기다리면서도, 자신이 해야 할 준비를 다 했습니다.
He trusted God’s guidance, yet also did everything within his responsibility.
하나님이 보여 주실 땅을 향해 방향을 세우고, 그 말씀을 따라 한 걸음씩 옮겨갔습니다.
He set his direction toward the land God promised and took one step at a time in obedience.
믿음은 생각으로 머무는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 약속을 향해 움직이는 용기입니다.
Faith is not just an idea—it is the courage to move toward God’s promise.
그렇게 걸을 때 하나님은 그 걸음 위에서 일하십니다.
And when we walk in faith, God works upon those very steps.
아브람이 세운 계획은 자신의 욕심이 아니라 하나님의 말씀에 근거한 것이었습니다.
Abram’s plan was not driven by ambition, but grounded in the Word of God.
오늘 우리의 신앙도 이와 같습니다.
Our faith today is the same.
하나님을 의지한다고 해서 아무 준비 없이 사는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 말씀을 붙들고 현실 속에서 최선을 다하는 삶이 참된 믿음의 길입니다.
Trusting God doesn’t mean living without preparation—it means holding onto His Word and doing our best in the real world—that is true faith.
믿음의 눈으로 세상을 볼 때
Seeing the World Through Eyes of Faith
믿지 않는 사람은 세상을 우연으로 봅니다.
Those without faith see the world as a series of coincidences.
운이 좋으면 잘되고, 나쁘면 무너진다고 생각합니다.
They think success comes by luck, and failure by misfortune.
그래서 불안합니다.
That’s why their hearts are restless.
하지만 믿음의 사람은 세상을 다르게 봅니다.
But people of faith see the world differently.
세상이 아니라, 세상을 지으신 하나님을 바라봅니다.
They look not at the world, but at the God who made the world.
모든 일이 그분의 손 안에 있음을 믿습니다.
They believe that everything is in His hands.
그래서 불안 대신 평안이 생깁니다.
And from that belief, peace replaces anxiety.
신앙은 현실을 피하는 길이 아니라, 현실을 하나님과 함께 걷는 길입니다.
Faith is not an escape from reality—it is walking through reality with God.
하나님이 천지를 지으셨다면, 내 삶의 걸음도 하나님이 이끄신다는 확신이 우리의 믿음을 단단하게 세웁니다.
If God created heaven and earth, we can trust that He also leads every step of our lives.
하나님을 바라보며 걸어가라
Lift Your Eyes to God and Keep Walking
인생의 산이 아무리 높아 보여도 그 산 위에는 하나님이 계십니다.
No matter how high your mountain seems, God is above it.
눈을 들어 그분을 바라보십시오.
Lift up your eyes and look to Him.
하나님은 천지를 지으신 분이십니다.
God is the Maker of heaven and earth.
그분은 오늘도 우리의 인생을 새롭게 빚고 계십니다.
He is still shaping our lives today.
우리가 걷는 그 길 위에, 하나님의 도우심이 함께하십니다.
On every path we walk, His help is with us.
오늘도 우리 역시 시편 기자처럼 이렇게 고백해야 합니다. “나의 도움은 천지를 지으신 여호와에게서로다.”
Today, we too must confess like the psalmist, “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
이 믿음이 오늘 우리 모두의 하루를 굳건히 붙들어 주시길 바랍니다.
May this faith firmly sustain and guide all of us throughout our day.
2. 하나님은 졸지도 주무시지도 않으십니다 (3–4)
God neither slumbers nor sleeps.
시편 기자는 하나님을 “졸지도 주무시지도 않으시는 분”이라 고백합니다.
The psalmist confesses that God “neither slumbers nor sleeps.”
이 표현은 단순히 “하나님은 피곤하지 않다”는 뜻이 아닙니다.
This doesn’t simply mean that God never gets tired.
하나님은 결코 우리를 잊지 않으신다는 사랑의 확신이 담겨 있습니다.
It means that He never forgets us—His love is constant and watchful.
우리는 지치고 흔들리지만, 하나님은 한순간도 멈추지 않으시고 우리를 지켜보며 붙들고 계십니다.
We grow weary and stumble, but God never stops watching over us and holding us firm.
흔들릴 때 붙드시는 하나님
God Who Holds Us When We Tremble
“실족하지 않게 하신다”는 말씀은 단순히 넘어지지 않는다는 의미가 아닙니다.
When the psalmist says, “He will not let your foot slip,” it doesn’t mean we’ll never fall.
넘어질 만큼 힘든 순간에도 하나님이 우리를 붙드신다는 뜻입니다.
It means that even when we’re at the edge of collapse, God upholds us.
우리의 신앙은 언제나 평탄하지 않습니다.
Our faith journey is never smooth.
길이 험하면 믿음도 흔들리고, 기도가 막힐 때는 절망이 찾아옵니다.
When the road is rough, our faith wavers, and when prayer feels blocked, despair comes.
그럴 때 하나님은 조용히 우리 곁에 서서 말씀하십니다.
At such times, God quietly stands beside us and says,
“내가 여기 있다. 너를 붙들고 있다.”
“I am here, and I am holding you.”
모세의 깊은 고통 속에서
In the Deep Anguish of Moses
광야의 모세도 그런 사람이었습니다.
Moses experienced the same struggle in the wilderness.
모세는 수십 년 동안 불평과 원망을 멈추지 않는 백성을 이끌어야 했습니다.
He led a people who complained and grumbled for decades.
그들의 입에서는 늘 이런 말이 나왔습니다.
They constantly said things like,
“우리가 애굽에 있을 때는 고기가 있었는데, 지금은 만나밖에 없도다.” (민수기 11:5)
“We remember the fish we ate in Egypt… but now we have nothing but this manna!” (Numbers 11:5)
그들의 불평은 단순한 불만이 아니라 하나님에 대한 불신이었습니다.
Their complaints weren’t just dissatisfaction—they were expressions of distrust toward God.
그리고 그 불신의 화살은 늘 지도자 모세를 향했습니다.
And those arrows of unbelief always pointed toward Moses.
그는 더 이상은 감당할 수 없어 하나님께 울부짖었습니다.
Unable to bear it any longer, Moses cried out to God,
“어찌하여 주께서 종을 괴롭게 하시나이까? 나로 하여금 이 모든 백성을 맡아 혼자 감당하게 하시나이까?” (민수기 11:11)
“Why have You brought this trouble on Your servant? Did I conceive all these people, that You tell me to carry them on my shoulders?” (Numbers 11:11)
그의 외침에는 낙심한 지도자의 절망이 담겨 있었습니다.
His cry was the voice of a weary leader at the end of his strength.
“하나님, 이건 너무 무겁습니다. 저는 더 이상 감당할 수 없습니다.”
“Lord, this burden is too heavy—I can’t do it anymore.”
그 고백 속에는 인간의 한계와 깊은 고통이 담겨 있었습니다.
That confession revealed both human limitation and deep anguish.
그러나 하나님은 졸지 않으셨습니다
But God Did Not Sleep
모세가 절망하며 쓰러졌을 때, 하나님은 침묵하지 않으셨습니다.
When Moses collapsed in despair, God did not remain silent.
그의 고통을 보시고, 즉시 일하셨습니다.
He saw Moses’ pain and acted immediately.
하나님은 모세에게 70명의 장로를 세우게 하시고,
God told Moses to appoint seventy elders,
그들에게 모세에게 있던 영을 나누어 주셨습니다. (민수기 11:16–17)
and He shared the Spirit that was on Moses with them. (Numbers 11:16–17)
모세가 혼자 감당할 수 없던 사역을 함께 나눌 동역자들을 세워 주신 것입니다.
God gave him coworkers to share the burden he could no longer carry alone.
하나님은 한순간도 멈추지 않으셨습니다.
God never stopped working.
모세가 울부짖을 때 이미 그를 위한 길을 준비하고 계셨습니다.
When Moses cried out, God had already prepared the way.
무너진 마음에 새 힘을 주시고, 함께할 손길을 더해 주셨습니다.
He strengthened Moses’ broken heart and surrounded him with helping hands.
신실하신 하나님은 지금도 그렇게 일하십니다
The Faithful God Still Works That Way Today
모세는 그 절망의 자리에서 하나님이 늘 깨어 계신다는 사실을 배웠습니다.
In that place of despair, Moses learned that God never sleeps.
그는 이후로 어떤 어려움이 와도 “하나님이 나를 잊지 않으신다”는 확신을 놓지 않았습니다.
After that, he never again doubted that God remembered him.
그래서 훗날 이렇게 고백합니다.
Later he confessed,
“주여, 주께서 친히 가시지 아니하시면 우리를 이곳에서 올려보내지 마옵소서.” (출애굽기 33:15)
“If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” (Exodus 33:15)
그의 말에는 깊은 신뢰가 담겨 있습니다.
Those words reveal a deep trust.
“하나님이 나와 함께하신다면, 어떤 길도 갈 수 있습니다.”
“If God is with me, I can go anywhere.”
이것이 졸지 않고 일하시는 하나님의 신실하심이었습니다.
That was the faithfulness of the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps.
하나님은 우리를 잊지 않으십니다
God does not forget us.
기도해도 응답이 더딜 때, 하나님이 잠시 눈을 감으신 것처럼 느껴질 때가 있습니다.
There are moments when our prayers seem unanswered, and it feels as if God has closed His eyes.
하지만 하나님은 단 한순간도 우리를 잊지 않으십니다.
But God never forgets us, not even for a moment.
우리가 밤새 잠을 이루지 못하며 눈물을 흘릴 때에도, 하나님은 깨어 계셔서 우리의 마음을 살피십니다.
When we lie awake through the night with tears in our eyes, God is awake, watching over our hearts.
길이 막혀 아무것도 할 수 없을 때에도, 그분은 이미 보이지 않는 곳에서 길을 예비하고 계십니다.
When every path seems blocked, He is already making a way where there seems to be none.
모세가 절망의 자리에 주저앉아 “이 모든 짐을 혼자 어떻게 감당합니까?”라고 외쳤을 때,
When Moses sat in despair, crying out, “How can I carry this burden alone?”,
하나님은 이미 그의 곁에 함께할 70명의 동역자를 준비하고 계셨습니다.
God had already prepared seventy helpers to stand beside him.
오늘 우리의 삶도 다르지 않습니다.
It is the same for us today.
직장을 잃었을 때, 관계가 깨어졌을 때, 병으로 몸이 지쳐 있을 때에도,
When we lose a job, when relationships break, when our bodies grow weary with illness,
하나님은 여전히 깨어 계셔서 우리를 위해 일하고 계십니다.
God is still awake, faithfully working on our behalf.
주님이 깨어 계시기에, 우리는 절망 속에서도 소망을 가질 수 있습니다.
Because He is awake, we can find hope even in despair.
주님이 신실하시기에, 우리는 쓰러져도 다시 일어설 수 있습니다.
Because He is faithful, we can rise again even after falling.
“이스라엘을 지키시는 이는 졸지도 주무시지도 아니하시리로다.”
“He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
3. 하나님은 우리를 완전하게 지키십니다. (5–8)
God perfectly preserves and protects us.
하나님의 지키심은 우리의 전 생애에 미칩니다
God’s Protection Covers Every Moment of Our Lives
시편 기자는 “여호와는 너를 지키시는 이시라”라고 선언합니다.
The psalmist proclaims, “The Lord is your keeper.”
하나님은 단지 어려움 속에서만 찾아오시는 분이 아니라, 우리의 하루와 인생 전체를 지켜 주시는 하나님이십니다.
He is not a God who appears only in times of crisis, but the One who guards our entire life, day by day.
“네 오른쪽에서 네 그늘이 되신다”는 말씀처럼, 하나님은 우리가 지쳐 쓰러질 때, 뜨거운 태양 아래 숨이 막힐 때, 그늘이 되어 우리를 쉬게 하십니다.
Just as the verse says, “The Lord is your shade at your right hand,” when we are weary and worn out under the heat of life’s burdens, He becomes our shade and gives us rest.
삶의 열기 속에서도 우리의 영혼이 마르지 않게 하시고, 밤의 두려움 속에서도 우리의 믿음이 식지 않게 하십니다.
Even in the scorching heat of life, He keeps our souls from drying out, and through the night’s fears, He keeps our faith from fading.
하나님의 보호는 생명을 넘어 영혼까지 이릅니다
God’s Protection Extends Beyond Life—It Guards Our Souls
“여호와께서 너를 지켜 모든 환난을 면하게 하시며 네 영혼을 지키시리로다.”
“The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life.”
이 말씀은 환난이 전혀 없는 삶을 약속하는 것이 아닙니다.
This verse does not promise a life free from hardship.
오히려 고난 속에서도 하나님께서 우리의 영혼을 보호하신다는 선언입니다.
Rather, it declares that even in suffering, God preserves our souls.
우리가 병들고, 사랑하는 이를 잃고, 기도한 대로 되지 않는 상황을 맞이하더라도 하나님은 그 고통의 한가운데서 우리를 붙들고 계십니다.
When we are sick or lose someone we love, and when things don’t turn out the way we prayed, God still holds us in the midst of that pain.
때로는 육신의 회복이 이루어지지 않아도 우리의 영혼은 하나님 안에서 온전히 지켜집니다.
Even if physical healing does not come, our souls are perfectly safe in God’s care.
그래서 성도는 죽음조차 두려워하지 않습니다.
That is why believers do not fear death.
하나님의 지키심은 생명을 넘어 영원에까지 이어지기 때문입니다.
Because His protection stretches beyond life—into eternity.
고난 속에서도 신실하신 하나님
God’s Faithfulness in the Midst of Suffering
삶의 길에서 우리는 이해할 수 없는 일을 겪습니다.
In life’s journey, we often face things we cannot understand.
기도했는데 병이 낫지 않고, 간절히 붙잡았는데 사랑하는 이가 떠나갑니다.
We pray for healing, yet the sickness remains. We plead for mercy, yet a loved one is taken.
그럴 때 우리는 묻습니다. “하나님, 정말 저를 지키고 계신가요?”
And we ask, “God, are You really watching over me?”
그러나 하나님은 결코 우리를 외면하지 않으십니다.
But God never turns His face away.
그분의 지키심은 우리가 바라는 방식이 아니라, 우리를 가장 온전하게 빚으시기 위한 방식으로 일하십니다.
His protection doesn’t always follow our expectations, but it works in ways that perfect and refine us.
하나님은 고통을 사용해 우리의 믿음을 단련하시고, 그 상처를 통해 다른 사람을 위로하게 하십니다.
God uses pain to strengthen our faith, and through our wounds, He enables us to comfort others.
하나님은 상처 없는 사람보다 상처 속에서 그리스도의 마음을 배운 사람을 사용하십니다.
He uses not the unscarred, but those who have learned Christ’s heart through suffering.
십자가 ― 하나님의 지키심이 드러난 자리
The Cross — The Place Where God’s Protection Was Revealed
우리가 믿는 하나님은 멀리서 바라보시기만 하는 분이 아닙니다.
The God we believe in is not one who merely observes from afar.
우리는 상처를 붙잡고 울부짖으며 때로는 하나님을 원망하기도 합니다.
We sometimes cling to our pain, crying out and even blaming God.
그러나 그때 하나님은 조용히 이렇게 말씀하십니다.
But in those moments, God gently says,
“나도 너를 위해 내 아들을 주었잖니.”
“I, too, gave My Son for you.”
우리는 그 사랑을 기억해야 합니다 — 그분은 우리를 위해 이미 가장 소중한 것을 내어주신 하나님이십니다.
We must remember that love — He is the God who has already given His most precious gift for us.
예수님의 죽음은 인간의 죄로 인한 비극이었지만, 그 안에서 하나님은 구원의 길을 여셨습니다.
The death of Jesus was a tragedy caused by human sin, yet in that tragedy, God opened the way of salvation.
죽음은 끝이 아니라, 화해와 생명의 시작이 되었습니다.
Death became not the end, but the beginning of reconciliation and new life.
그래서 우리의 고난과 상실도 하나님의 손 안에서는 새로운 의미로 바뀔 수 있습니다.
Thus, our pain and loss can take on new meaning in God’s hands.
그리스도의 죽음이 우리에게 생명이 되었듯, 우리의 눈물도 언젠가 다른 사람을 살리는 은혜의 통로가 됩니다.
Just as Christ’s death became life for us, our tears too can one day become channels of grace for others.
상처 입은 치유자, 그리고 담담한 믿음
The Wounded Healer and a Steadfast Faith
사랑하는 이를 잃고도 믿음을 붙드는 사람의 눈물은 결코 헛되지 않습니다.
The tears of those who hold onto faith after loss are never wasted.
그 눈물 속에서 하나님은 다른 영혼을 위로할 능력을 빚어내십니다.
Within those tears, God shapes the power to comfort other souls.
그때 우리는 하나님의 지키심이 우리가 바라는 안전이 아니라, 우리의 영혼을 자라게 하는 보호임을 깨닫습니다.
At that moment, we realize that God's protection is not about the safety we desire, but about the kind of care that helps our souls grow.
그래서 믿음의 사람은 고난 중에도 이렇게 고백합니다.
That is why the person of faith can say even in suffering,
“주님, 이해할 수는 없지만 주님의 선하심을 믿습니다.
‘Lord, I do not understand, but I trust in Your goodness.
이 일 속에도 주님의 사랑이 있음을 압니다.”
I know that even in this, Your love remains.’”
이것이 성숙한 믿음이며, 죽음조차 담담히 받아들이는 신앙의 힘입니다.
This is mature faith—the kind that accepts even death with calm trust.
지금부터 영원까지
From Now and Forevermore
“여호와께서 너의 출입을 지금부터 영원까지 지키시리로다.”
“The Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.”
하나님의 지키심은 오늘 하루만이 아니라,
God’s protection is not just for today,
우리의 인생 전체, 그리고 죽음을 넘어 영원에까지 미칩니다.
but for our whole lives—and beyond death, into eternity.
삶이 끊어지는 것처럼 보여도, 하나님 안에서는 그것이 새로운 생명의 시작입니다.
Even when life seems to end, in God, it is the beginning of new life.
하나님은 오늘도 우리의 걸음을 인도하시며, 고난 속에서 우리를 다듬으시고, 죽음의 경계를 넘어 우리의 영혼을 품고 계십니다.
He continues to guide our steps, refines us through our suffering, and holds our souls beyond the boundary of death.
“나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고, 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니.” (요한복음 11:25–26)
‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’ (John 11:25–26)
결론 — 지금도 우리를 도우시는 하나님
Conclusion — The God Who Still Helps Us
시편 기자는 인생의 길 위에서 이렇게 고백했습니다.
The psalmist, standing on the journey of life, made this confession:
“나의 도움은 천지를 지으신 여호와에게서로다.”
“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
하나님은 천지를 지으신 창조주로서 우리의 삶을 붙드십니다.
God, the Creator of heaven and earth, upholds our lives with His power.
하나님은 우리가 흔들릴 때마다 졸지도 주무시지도 않으시며 우리를 다시 세워주십니다.
Whenever we stumble, God neither slumbers nor sleeps, but lifts us up again.
그리고 마지막까지 우리를 완전히 지키시는 분이십니다.
And He is the One who protects us completely until the very end.
우리가 의지할 사람도, 기대할 환경도 없다고 느낄 때, 하나님은 여전히 우리 곁에서 말씀하십니다.
When we feel there is no one to rely on and no circumstance to hope in, God still whispers beside us,
“내가 너를 돕겠다. 내가 너를 지키겠다.”
“I will help you. I will keep you.”
설교후 기도
사랑과 은혜의 하나님 아버지, 오늘 말씀을 통해 우리를 도우시는 하나님을 다시 바라보게 하시니 감사합니다.
Loving and gracious Father, Thank You for reminding us today that You are the God who helps us.

God has also given us a new name.
그 이름은 바로 ‘그리스도인’, 곧 예수 그리스도께 속한 사람이라는 이름입니다.
That name is “Christian,” meaning one who belongs to Jesus Christ.
우리가 알고 있는 대로, 처음으로 ‘그리스도인’이라는 이름이 사용된 곳은 사도행전 11장 26절에 나오는 안디옥 교회입니다.
As we know, the name “Christian” first appeared in Acts 11:26, in the Church of Antioch.

At that time, believing in Jesus was a very difficult thing to do.

Yet, in the midst of all those hardships, the believers in Antioch continued to live their faith with gratitude and joy.

They cared for others in need, loved one another, and served faithfully.
예수님께서 가르치신 말씀을 삶으로 실천하며, 예수님을 닮으려 애썼습니다.
They lived out the teachings of Jesus and strove to become more like Him.

Our natural name and our Christian name should never be separated.

As believers, we are not called to live merely as good people among others,

but as people who carry the fragrance of Christ and reflect the character of Jesus.

The presence of Jesus should be evident in our words, actions, and attitudes.
성숙한 그리스도인은 돈과 지식, 권력과 명예 속에서도 예수의 향기를 잃지 않습니다.
A mature Christian does not lose the fragrance of Jesus even amid wealth, knowledge, power, or honor.

To carry the scent of Jesus means to live a life centered on Him.
그럴 때 하나님께서는 우리의 이름을 기뻐하시고 기억하십니다.
When we do so, God delights in our name and remembers it with joy.
4부 느헤미야의 84인, 교회의 직분자, 그리고 예수의 이름
Part 4 – The 84 Servants of Nehemiah, Church Officers, and the Name of Jesus
구약성경 느헤미야서 10장을 보면, 예루살렘 성벽 재건에 헌신한 자들의 이름이 무려 84명이나 기록되어 있습니다.
In Nehemiah chapter 10, we find the names of 84 people who dedicated themselves to rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem.
이들이 특별히 성경에 이름이 남겨진 이유는, 하나님의 말씀에 순종하며 자신들의 삶을 온전히 드린 사람들이기 때문입니다.
Their names were recorded in Scripture because they devoted their lives to God’s Word and lived in complete obedience.

Nehemiah, a third-generation Jew born in Babylon, could have lived a comfortable life, but when he heard of his homeland’s ruin, he wept, fasted, and prayed.

He courageously returned to his homeland, defying the king’s reluctance, and led the rebuilding of the city wall.

Afterward, the people heard God’s Word through Ezra the scribe, repented, and made a fresh commitment to live according to God’s will.

사랑하는 성도 여러분, 오늘 하나님께서 교회 안에 세우신 장로님, 집사님, 권사님, 교사님, 구역장님들의 이름은 단순한 직분이 아닙니다.
Dear brothers and sisters, the names of elders, deacons, deaconesses, teachers, and small group leaders appointed in the church are not mere titles.
그것은 하나님께서 주신 새 이름입니다.
They are new names given by God.
그 이름은 교회 역사 속에 기록될 뿐 아니라, 하늘나라에서도 기억될 것입니다.
These names will not only be recorded in church history but will also be remembered in heaven.
그러므로 그 이름에 부끄럽지 않게 죽도록 충성하시기 바랍니다.
Therefore, be faithful unto death so that you may never bring shame to that name.
교회가 필요로 할 때 언제든 달려가는 일꾼이 되시기를 바랍니다.
Be ready to serve whenever the church calls for help.
그 이름에 합당한 삶을 살지 못하면, 그리스도의 이름에 누가 됩니다.
If we do not live up to that name, we dishonor the name of Christ Himself.

Now, let us conclude by introducing the most glorious name in all human history.
그 이름은 바로 예수입니다.
That name is Jesus.
