We are faced with countless choices as we go through life.
어떤 일은 명확히 옳고 그름이 드러나지만, 어떤 상황은 우리의 마음을 흔들고 판단을 흐리게 합니다.
Some choices clearly distinguish right from wrong, but others shake our hearts and blur our judgment.
특히 억울한 일을 겪을 때, 우리는 하나님보다 먼저 그 억울함에 마음을 빼앗기기 쉽습니다.
Especially when we suffer unfair treatment, we tend to be consumed by resentment rather than turning to God.
오늘 본문은 그런 삶의 한 단면을 보여줍니다.
Today’s passage shows us such a moment in life.
유산 문제로 예수님을 찾아온 한 사람은, 형제와의 갈등으로 분노에 휩싸여 있었습니다.
A man comes to Jesus with a family inheritance issue, overwhelmed by anger from a conflict with his brother.
그러나 예수님은 그의 억울함을 해결해 주기보다, 오히려 그 마음의 중심을 비추십니다.
But instead of resolving his grievance, Jesus shines light on the deeper issue in his heart.
그리고 이어지는 어리석은 부자의 비유를 통해, 우리에게 진정한 생명의 길이 무엇인지 알려주십니다.
Then, through the parable of the rich fool, He reveals to us the true path to life.
우리의 생명은 무엇으로 지켜지는 것입니까? 소유의 넉넉함입니까? 억울함을 풀어주는 공평한 재판입니까?
What truly preserves our life? Is it abundance of possessions? Or is it justice served for our grievances?
예수님은 전혀 다른 길을 가리키십니다.
Jesus points to an entirely different way.
오늘 우리는 누가복음 12장 말씀을 따라, 생명을 지키는 참된 지혜가 어디에서 시작되는지를 함께 묵상하고자 합니다.
Today, as we reflect on Luke 12, may we discover where true wisdom that guards life begins.
말씀을 통해 우리 삶을 지키고 자유케 하는 하나님의 지혜를 붙들게 되기를 소망합니다.
Through God’s Word, may we hold fast to His wisdom that protects and sets us free.
1. 생명을 지키는 지혜는 억울함보다 하나님을 바라보는 데서 시작됩니다(13–21절).
True wisdom that guards life begins not with resentment, but by looking to God
누가복음 12장 13절부터 21절까지에는 두 개의 장면이 이어집니다.
Luke 12:13–21 presents two connected scenes.
하나는 유산 문제로 예수님께 도움을 청한 사람의 이야기이고,
One is a man asking Jesus to help settle an inheritance dispute,
다른 하나는 예수님께서 그 상황에 대한 대답으로 들려주신 어리석은 부자의 비유입니다.
The other is the parable Jesus tells in response—the parable of the rich fool.
이 두 이야기는 서로 다른 듯 보이지만, 같은 메시지를 향하고 있습니다.
Though they seem different, both convey the same message.
바로 “사람의 생명이 그 소유의 넉넉한 데 있지 않다”는 주님의 말씀입니다.
That message is this: “Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
예수님께 유산 분쟁을 가지고 나온 이 사람은, 형제와의 갈등 앞에서는 분명했지만,
The man who brought his case to Jesus was clear about his grievance against his brother,
주님 앞에서는 자신의 마음을 보지 못한 사람이었습니다.
but he could not see the condition of his own heart before the Lord.
무리 중 한 사람이 예수님께 나아와 말합니다.
He approached Jesus from among the crowd and said,
“선생님, 제 형에게 유산을 저와 나누라고 말씀해 주십시오.”
“Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
그의 말에는 억울함이 묻어나 있었고, 얼굴에는 분노가 서려 있었습니다.
His voice revealed a deep sense of injustice, and his face showed his anger.
그는 아버지를 일찍 여의고 가정을 위해 열심히 살아왔지만,
He had lost his father early and worked hard for the family,
형이 유산을 독차지했다는 생각에 마음속 깊은 상처가 자리 잡고 있었습니다.
but now, thinking that his brother had taken everything, his heart was filled with wounds.
그는 율법도, 가족도 더 이상 믿을 수 없었고 마지막 희망처럼 예수님께 나아와 문제 해결을 요청했습니다.
He could no longer trust the law or his own family, and came to Jesus as a last hope.
그러나 예수님은 예상과 전혀 다른 방식으로 반응하십니다.
But Jesus responds in an entirely unexpected way.
“이 사람아, 누가 나를 너희의 재판장이나 물건 나누는 자로 세웠느냐?”
“Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?”
그리고는 곧바로 무리를 향해 이렇게 경고하십니다.
Then He turned to the crowd and gave this warning:
“삼가 모든 탐심을 물리치라. 사람의 생명이 그 소유의 넉넉한 데 있지 않다.”
“Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
그는 정당한 권리를 말한 것이라 생각했지만, 예수님은 그의 말 속에 숨겨진 마음의 중심을 보셨습니다.
The man thought he was simply asking for his rightful share, but Jesus saw the deeper condition of his heart hidden in his words.
그의 진짜 문제는 유산 분쟁이 아니라, 재산에 대한 집착과 분노로 메말라가고 있는 영혼이었습니다.
His real issue was not the inheritance dispute, but a soul growing dry from obsession with wealth and anger.
그는 분명 주님 앞에 섰지만, 정작 형제와 재산만을 바라보고 있었고, 주님보다 억울함과 욕망에 더 깊이 사로잡혀 있었습니다.
Though he stood before the Lord, his eyes were fixed only on his brother and the inheritance. He was more gripped by resentment and desire than by the Lord.
예수님은 우리가 그리스도 앞에 서는 그 순간, 우리의 진짜 내면이 드러난다는 사실을 알려주십니다.
Jesus teaches us that when we stand before Christ, the true condition of our hearts is revealed.
그래서 생명은 단지 억울함을 푸는 데 있지 않고, 오히려 하나님 앞에 우리의 마음을 바로 세우는 데 있습니다.
So life is not found in having our grievances resolved, but in aligning our hearts rightly before God.
진정한 생명은 억울함을 푸는 데서 오는 것이 아니라, 하나님과의 관계를 바로 세우는 데서 시작됩니다.
True life does not begin with fairness being restored, but with restoring our relationship with God.
우리는 종종 세상이 불공정하다고 느끼고, 억울한 일을 겪을 때 분노와 원망에 사로잡히기 쉽습니다.
We often feel that the world is unfair, and when we suffer injustice, we are easily consumed by anger and bitterness.
하지만 그럴 때일수록 “왜 나만 이런 일을 겪는가?”라는 질문보다 먼저, 하나님 앞에 서 있는 내 마음의 중심을 정직하게 들여다보는 일이 필요합니다.
But in such times, instead of asking “Why me?”, we must first honestly examine the center of our hearts before God.
예수님은 우리의 억울함을 외면하지 않으십니다.
Jesus does not ignore our pain or sense of injustice.
그러나 그보다 더 먼저, 우리 마음의 상태를 깊이 들여다보십니다.
But even more, He looks deeply into the condition of our hearts.
우리의 분노 속에, 혹은 상처 속에 숨겨진 탐심과 자기중심성을 꺼내어 다루시고자 하십니다.
He desires to bring into light the greed and self-centeredness hidden in our anger or wounds.
특히 가족 간의 갈등, 형제 간의 유산 문제처럼 삶 가까이에 있는 갈등 속에서는 ‘누가 옳은가’를 따지기 전에, 내가 움켜쥐고 있는 것은 무엇인지 돌아보아야 합니다.
Especially in close conflicts—such as family disputes or sibling inheritance issues—before arguing over who is right, we must reflect on what we are clinging to.
우리가 진정 내려놓아야 할 것은 억울함이 아니라, 그 억울함을 부추기는 내 안의 탐심일 수 있습니다.
What we truly need to let go of may not be the injustice itself, but the greed within us that fuels our sense of injustice.
억울함을 풀려고 애쓰는 것보다, 마음을 하나님께 드릴 때 진짜 자유가 시작됩니다.
True freedom begins not by trying to resolve what’s unfair, but by surrendering our hearts to God.
세상이 불공정하다고 느껴질 때, 예수님 앞에서 먼저 내 마음을 정직하게 드리는 일이 필요합니다.
When the world feels unfair, we must first bring our hearts honestly before Jesus.
상처받은 감정과 혼란스러운 마음을 숨기지 말고, 있는 그대로 주님 앞에 올려드리는 용기가 우리 안에 있어야 합니다.
Do not hide your wounded emotions or your confused heart—have the courage to lay them before the Lord just as they are.
주님은 그 상처 위에 손을 얹으시고, 회복시키는 사랑으로 우리를 만지십니다.
The Lord lays His hand on our wounds and touches us with restoring love.
특히 세월이 흐른 뒤에 돌아보면, 우리 삶에 진정 남는 것은 재산이 아니라 관계입니다.
Especially when we look back after time has passed, what truly remains in our lives is not wealth, but relationships.
그동안 오해가 있었던 형제, 마음이 멀어진 자녀, 서운함이 쌓인 이웃과의 관계를 회복하는 일은
Restoring relationships—with a misunderstood sibling, a distant child, or a neighbor we’ve grown cold toward—
지금 우리가 선택할 수 있는 가장 의미 있는 결단이 될 수 있습니다.
may be the most meaningful decision we can make today.
지금이라도 먼저 손을 내밀어 보십시오.
Reach out first—even now.
화해와 용서가 흐르는 가정, 그 안에 하나님은 기쁨으로 거하시며 평강을 부어주십니다.
In a home where reconciliation and forgiveness flow, God dwells with joy and pours out His peace.
예수님은 “사람의 생명이 그 소유의 넉넉한 데 있지 않다”고 하셨습니다.
Jesus said, “Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
참된 생명은 억울함을 풀어주는 재판이나 유산 분배가 아니라, 하나님과의 바른 관계를 회복할 때 주어집니다.
True life is not found in fair verdicts or inheritance division, but in restoring a right relationship with God.
주님은 지금도 묻고 계십니다. “너는 지금 어떤 마음으로 내 앞에 서 있느냐?”
The Lord still asks us today, “With what kind of heart do you now stand before me?”
억울함보다 먼저 내 안의 탐심을 내려놓고, 하나님 앞에 마음을 드릴 수 있기를 바랍니다.
May we lay down our greed before our sense of injustice, and offer our hearts to God.
그때 우리 안에 참된 평안과 자유가 시작될 것입니다.
Then true peace and freedom will begin within us.
이것이 바로 생명을 지키는 첫 번째 지혜입니다.
This is the first wisdom that guards life.
생명은 우리가 가진 소유의 양이 아니라, 하나님께 대하여 얼마나 부요한 삶을 살았는가에 달려 있습니다.
Life is not about how much we possess, but about how rich we are toward God.
예수님은 유산 분쟁에 대해 말씀하시며, 이어 한 비유를 들려주십니다.
In speaking about the inheritance dispute, Jesus tells a parable.
“한 부자가 그 해에 풍성한 수확을 얻고는, 더 큰 창고를 짓고 곡식을 저장한 후, 이렇게 말합니다.
“A rich man had an abundant harvest one year. He built bigger barns to store his grain and then said,
‘내 영혼아, 여러 해 쓸 물건을 많이 쌓아두었으니, 이제는 쉬고, 먹고, 마시고, 즐기자.’”
‘My soul, you have plenty of goods laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink, and be merry.’”
그러나 그날 밤 하나님께서 말씀하십니다.
But that very night, God said to him:
“어리석은 자여, 오늘 밤 네 영혼을 도로 찾으리니, 네가 준비한 것이 누구의 것이 되겠느냐?”
“You fool! This very night your soul will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?”
창고는 가득했지만, 그의 영혼은 텅 비어 있었던 것입니다.
His barns were full, but his soul was empty.
많은 것을 소유했던 그는, 하나님 앞에 설 준비는 전혀 되어 있지 않았습니다.
Though he had many possessions, he was completely unprepared to stand before God.
사람들은 그의 풍성한 수확과 성공을 부러워했지만, 정작 그는 하나님 앞에 설 준비가 되어 있지 않았습니다.
People envied his abundant harvest and success, but in truth, he was not ready to meet God.
그는 가족과도 나누지 않았고, 가난한 이웃에게도 나누지 않았으며, 하나님께 묻지도 않았습니다.
He shared with neither family nor the poor, and never sought God’s counsel.
그는 모든 것이 자기 것인 줄 알고, 자기 만족을 위해 계획을 세웠지만, 자기 생명조차 자기 것이 아니었습니다.
He thought everything was his and made plans for his own pleasure, but even his life was not his own.
하나님께서는 그를 “어리석은 자”라 부르십니다.
God calls him “You fool.”
그는 큰 창고는 지었지만, 하나님께 드릴 영혼의 공간은 짓지 않았고,
He built large barns, but he built no room in his soul for God.
많은 곡식을 쌓았지만, 이웃과 함께할 사랑은 쌓지 않았습니다.
He stored up much grain, but did not store up love to share with his neighbors.
결국 그는 자기를 위해 쌓고, 하나님께 대하여는 아무것도 남기지 못한 채 허무한 죽음을 맞이했습니다.
In the end, he gathered all for himself and left nothing for God, meeting a meaningless death.
생명은 우리가 얼마나 가졌느냐가 아니라, 그것을 누구를 위해, 어떻게 사용하며 살아왔느냐에 달려 있습니다.
Life is not about how much we have, but about for whom and how we have used it.
하나님께 대하여 부요한 삶, 그것이 영혼을 채우는 참된 지혜입니다.
A life rich toward God—that is the true wisdom that fills the soul.
하나님께 마음을 드리는 예배와 삶의 나눔이, 비어 있는 우리의 영혼을 다시 채웁니다.
Worship and a life of sharing given to God refill our empty souls.
매일의 삶 속에서 하나님께 마음을 드릴 때, 우리의 영혼은 다시 살아납니다.
When we offer our hearts to God each day, our souls are revived.
매일 아침 교회에서 드리는 예배가 바로, 영혼의 창고를 채우는 시간입니다.
Morning worship at church is the time when the storehouse of our souls is filled.
말씀 한 구절과 기도 한 마디 속에, 하나님은 오늘을 이길 힘과 생명을 부어주십니다.
Through a single verse and a brief prayer, God gives us the strength and life to overcome the day.
그 단순한 시작이, 비어 있던 영혼에 생기를 불어넣고 삶의 방향을 새롭게 정비하게 합니다.
That simple beginning breathes new life into our empty souls and reorients our path.
우리는 이미 많은 것을 쌓아왔습니다.
We have already accumulated many things.
이제는 그것을 누구와, 어떻게 나눌 것인가가 인생의 참된 열매가 됩니다.
Now, the true fruit of life lies in with whom and how we choose to share it.
가정을 위한 희생도, 일터에서의 수고도 귀하지만,
Our sacrifices for family and efforts at work are precious,
그 모든 것을 하나님께 드릴 수 있는 방향으로 전환해 보십시오.
but try to reorient all of it toward being offered to God.
그 순간부터, 영혼의 창고에도 생명의 열매가 맺히기 시작할 것입니다.
From that moment on, the storehouse of your soul will begin to bear the fruit of life.
참된 생명은 죽음을 준비하는 데서가 아니라, 지금 하나님께 드릴 삶을 준비하는 데서 시작됩니다.
True life begins not in preparing for death, but in preparing the life we offer to God now.
삶을 돌아보는 시간이 많아질수록 우리는 스스로에게 묻게 됩니다.
As we reflect more on life, we begin to ask ourselves:
“나는 무엇을 위해 살아왔는가?”
“For what have I lived?”
그 질문에 허무가 아닌 하나님께 드릴 고백이 응답이 되도록, 지금부터 준비해야 합니다.
We must prepare now so that our answer is not emptiness, but a confession we can offer to God.
하나님은 지금도 말씀하십니다. “오늘 밤 네 영혼을 도로 찾으리니…”
God still speaks: “Tonight your soul will be required of you…”
하지만 아직 늦지 않았습니다.
But it is not too late.
지금 이 자리에서 드리는 한 번의 기도, 진심 어린 한 마디의 고백,
One prayer offered here and now, one sincere word of confession,
누군가를 향한 작은 나눔 하나가 우리의 삶을 하나님께 부요한 인생으로 이끄는 전환점이 될 수 있습니다.
one small act of sharing with someone—any of these can become the turning point toward a life rich toward God.
그러니 지금부터라도, 하나님 앞에 올려드릴 삶의 고백을 준비하는 시간을 시작해 보십시오.
So even now, begin preparing a life confession you can offer before God.
그때 우리 영혼은 진정한 평안과 깊은 만족을 누리게 될 것입니다.
Then our souls will experience true peace and deep satisfaction.
2. 생명을 지키는 지혜는 하나님 앞에 부요한 삶으로 나타납니다(22–30절).
2. True wisdom that guards life is shown through a life rich toward God (vv. 22–30).
하나님 앞에 부요한 삶은, 염려 대신 신뢰로 살아가는 데서 시작됩니다.
A life rich toward God begins with living by trust rather than worry.
예수님은 어리석은 부자의 비유를 들려주신 후, 제자들을 향해 직접 말씀하십니다.
After telling the parable of the rich fool, Jesus turns to His disciples and speaks directly to them.
“그러므로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 목숨을 위하여 무엇을 먹을까, 몸을 위하여 무엇을 입을까 염려하지 말라.”
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.”
생명의 문제는 먹고사는 문제보다 훨씬 더 깊은 차원에 있습니다.
The matter of life goes far deeper than food and clothing.
우리의 생명은 먹는 것, 입는 것에 달려 있는 것이 아니라, 하나님께 달려 있습니다.
Our life does not depend on what we eat or wear, but on God.
예수님은 자연을 예로 들어 설명하십니다.
Jesus illustrates this using nature.
까마귀를 보라, 하나님께서 먹이시고 들의 백합화를 보라, 하나님께서 솔로몬보다 더 아름답게 입히신다고 하십니다.
Consider the ravens—God feeds them. Look at the lilies—God clothes them more beautifully than Solomon.
그리고 이렇게 말씀하십니다. “하물며 너희일까 보냐? 믿음이 작은 자들아!”
Then He says, “How much more will He clothe you—you of little faith!”
염려는 우리를 조금도 유익하게 하지 못합니다.
Worry does us no good at all.
오히려 염려는 하나님 아버지의 돌보심을 신뢰하지 못할 때 나타나는 인간의 연약함입니다.
Rather, worry reveals our human weakness when we fail to trust the Father’s care.
주님은 우리가 이방인처럼 먹고사는 문제에 매여 사는 것을 원하지 않으십니다.
The Lord does not want us to be enslaved by concerns over daily needs like the pagans.
“이 모든 것은 세상 사람들이 구하는 것이라. 너희 아버지께서는 이것이 너희에게 있어야 할 것을 아시느니라.” (30절)
“For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them.” (v. 30)
자기 힘으로 쌓으려는 삶이 아니라, 하나님의 공급을 신뢰하는 삶이 진정 하나님 앞에 부요한 인생입니다.
It is not a life built by one’s own strength, but one that trusts in God’s provision—that is truly a rich life before God.
우리는 종종 “내가 책임져야 한다”는 압박감에 시달립니다.
We are often burdened by the pressure to “handle it all ourselves.”
그러나 믿음의 삶은 모든 것을 내려놓고 아무것도 하지 않는 삶이 아니라, 하나님의 돌보심을 신뢰하며 맡기는 삶입니다.
But a life of faith is not doing nothing—it is surrendering while trusting in God’s care.
염려를 내려놓는다는 것은 무책임하게 사는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 손길을 먼저 바라보며 살아가는 태도입니다.
Letting go of worry is not irresponsibility, but a posture that looks first to the hand of God.
우리의 하루하루에 필요한 것을 아시는 분이 계시기에, 우리는 오늘을 믿음으로 걸어갈 수 있습니다.
Because the One who knows our daily needs is with us, we can walk by faith today.
이처럼 하나님의 돌보심을 믿고 오늘을 신뢰하며 살아간 한 여인의 이야기가 성경에도 나옵니다.
There’s a story in the Bible of a woman who trusted God's care and lived one day at a time by faith.
끝이 보이지 않는 가뭄이 이어지고 있었습니다.
A relentless drought had gripped the land.
온 땅이 메말라 가는 가운데, 사르밧 성의 작은 집 안에도 생명의 희망이 점점 사라지고 있었습니다.
As the earth dried up, hope for life also faded inside a small home in Zarephath.
과부는 매일 아침, 빈 밀가루 항아리를 바라보며 깊은 한숨을 내쉬었습니다.
Each morning, the widow looked into the empty flour jar and let out a deep sigh.
기름병은 이미 바닥을 보였고, 항아리 속에는 마지막 밀가루 한 줌이 간신히 남아 있을 뿐이었습니다.
The jar of oil was already emptying, and only a handful of flour remained in the container.
아들은 배고픔을 참지 못해 “엄마, 배고파요…” 하고 중얼거리곤 했습니다.
Her son, unable to bear the hunger, would whisper, “Mom, I’m hungry…”
그 목소리조차 점점 작아지고 있었습니다.
Even his voice was growing weaker each day.
그날도 그녀는 들판으로 나섰습니다.
That day too, she went out into the field.
나뭇가지 몇 개라도 더 주워야, 마지막 불을 피워 떡을 구울 수 있었기 때문입니다.
She needed to gather a few more sticks to light one last fire and bake their final bread.
마음속으로는 이미 결심하고 있었습니다.
In her heart, she had already made her decision.
‘이걸로 마지막 떡을 만들어 아들과 함께 먹고, 이제는 더 이상 버틸 수 없겠구나…’
“With this, I’ll make our last bread, eat it with my son, and then… I won’t be able to go on.”
조용히 생을 마무리할 준비를 하고 있었던 것입니다.
She was quietly preparing to end her life.
그런데 그때, 낯선 한 남자가 그녀에게 다가왔습니다.
But at that moment, a stranger approached her.
그의 얼굴에는 먼지와 피곤함이 묻어 있었지만, 눈빛은 깊고도 담담하게 빛나고 있었습니다.
His face was marked by dust and weariness, but his eyes shone with calm and depth.
그는 정중하게 말을 건넸습니다.
He spoke to her with gentle respect.
“부인, 마실 물을 조금 주시겠습니까? 그리고 떡 한 조각도 주실 수 있겠습니까?”
“Would you bring me a little water to drink? And a piece of bread as well?”
그녀는 놀란 눈빛으로 그를 바라보았습니다.
She looked at him with surprised eyes.
‘아니, 이 상황에서… 저 사람은 지금, 뭘 알고 있는 걸까? 이 땅엔 물도, 떡도, 아무것도 남아 있지 않은데…’
“What is he thinking? Doesn’t he know? There’s no water, no bread, nothing left in this land…”
떨리는 목소리로 그녀는 조심스럽게 대답합니다.
With a trembling voice, she cautiously replied:
“저에게 남은 것은 밀가루 한 줌과 기름 조금뿐입니다.
“All I have left is a handful of flour and a little oil.
그걸로 마지막 떡을 구워 아들과 함께 먹고… 이제 죽을 생각이었습니다.”
I was going to bake a final meal for my son and me… and then prepare to die.”
그러자 그 낯선 남자, 하나님의 사람 엘리야는 놀라운 말을 전합니다.
Then the stranger—God’s servant Elijah—spoke an astonishing word.
“두려워하지 마십시오. 먼저 그것으로 저에게 떡을 만들어 주십시오.
“Do not be afraid. First, make me a small cake from it.
여호와께서 말씀하시기를, 비가 내리는 날까지 밀가루통은 비지 않고, 기름병은 마르지 않을 것이라 하셨습니다.”
For the Lord says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain.’”
그녀의 마음속에는 복잡한 감정이 밀려왔습니다.
A storm of emotions surged in her heart.
‘정말 이 사람의 말을 믿어도 되는 걸까? 지금 이 한 조각이 내 삶의 마지막인데…’
“Can I really trust this man’s word? This piece of bread may be my last…”
하지만 그의 말 속에 담긴 신뢰와 하나님의 이름,
Yet in his words, there was trust—and the name of the Lord—
그리고 설명할 수 없는 평안함이 그녀의 마음을 감싸기 시작했습니다.
and a peace beyond understanding began to wrap around her heart.
그녀는 집으로 돌아가 마지막 밀가루와 기름을 꺼냈습니다.
She returned home and took out the last of her flour and oil.

With small hands, she kneaded the dough and carefully baked bread to give to Elijah.
그날 저녁, 그녀는 떨리는 마음으로 다시 항아리를 들여다보았습니다.
That evening, with trembling heart, she looked into the jar again.
텅 비어 있어야 할 그 밀가루통 속에, 분명히 다시 밀가루가 남아 있었습니다.
Inside the jar that should have been empty, there was flour once more.
기름병에도, 바닥을 보였던 그 병에도 다시 기름이 고여 있었습니다.
And in the oil jug, once dry, oil had returned.
그리고 다음 날도, 그다음 날도, 하나님의 말씀은 그대로 이루어지고 있었습니다.
The next day, and the day after that, God’s word continued to be fulfilled.
매일 아침 항아리를 여는 그 순간, 그녀는 다시 살아계신 하나님을 만났습니다.
Each morning as she opened the jar, she encountered the living God again.
죽음의 문턱에서, 그녀는 하나님의 약속을 붙잡는 믿음 하나로 생명을 얻게 된 것입니다.
On the edge of death, by holding on to God's promise in faith, she received life.
우리에게 남은 것이 아무리 작고 보잘것없어 보여도,
Even when what we have seems small and insignificant,

when we offer it to God in faith, He fills our lives with unending grace and provision.

Like the widow of Zarephath, when we choose obedience over worry,

God grants the miracle of filling the empty storerooms of our soul.

Are you burdened by worry these days?

예수님은 우리에게 말씀하십니다.
Jesus speaks to us:
“너희는 이 모든 것을 염려하지 말라. 너희 아버지께서 아신다.”
“Do not worry about all these things. Your Father knows that you need them.”
그분은 무관심한 신이 아니라, 아버지이십니다.
He is not a distant god, but a caring Father.
우리의 필요한 것을 아시고, 공급하시며,
He knows our needs, provides for us,
생명을 붙드시고, 마침내 하늘의 평강으로 우리를 채우실 분입니다.
sustains our life, and ultimately fills us with heavenly peace.
생명을 지키는 지혜는 하나님 앞에 부요한 삶에서 시작됩니다.
The wisdom that guards life begins in a life rich toward God.
우리는 흔히 눈에 보이는 것을 더 많이 쌓는 것이 지혜라고 생각합니다.
We often think that wisdom is in gathering more of what we can see.
그러나 주님은 말씀하십니다. “생명이 소유의 넉넉한 데 있지 않다.”
But the Lord says, “Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
사르밧 과부는 가진 것이 거의 없었지만,
The widow of Zarephath had almost nothing,
하나님의 말씀을 신뢰하고 순종했을 때, 그 삶은 기적처럼 다시 일어나게 되었습니다.
but when she trusted and obeyed God’s word, her life rose again in a miracle.
믿음으로 드린 그 작은 순종이, 생명을 지켜주는 시작이 되었던 것입니다.
That small act of obedience in faith became the beginning of life’s preservation.
하나님 앞에 부요한 사람은 많이 가진 자가 아니라, 하나님을 신뢰하는 자입니다.
A person rich toward God is not one who has much, but one who trusts in Him.
염려하지 않고, 내일의 불안에 흔들리지 않고,
The one who does not worry, who is not shaken by the uncertainties of tomorrow,
하나님의 손길을 믿고 오늘을 살아가는 자가
but lives today trusting in God's hand—
참된 생명을 지키는 지혜를 소유한 사람입니다.
that is the person who possesses the wisdom that truly guards life.
그러므로 염려로 하루를 채우기보다, 신뢰와 나눔으로 하나님의 나라를 향해 한 걸음 더 내딛는 여러분 되시길 바랍니다.
So rather than filling your days with worry, may you take one more step toward God’s kingdom through trust and sharing.
그럴 때, 우리의 삶은 비로소 하나님 앞에 부요한 인생이 되고, 참된 생명을 지켜내는 복된 길로 나아가게 될 것입니다.
Then, our lives will truly become rich before God and lead us on the blessed path of guarding true life.
3. 하나님의 나라를 구할 때, 생명은 더해지는 은혜로 지켜집니다 (31–34절)
3. When we seek God's kingdom, life is sustained by added grace (vv. 31–34)
예수님께서는 앞서 먹고 마시는 문제로 염려하지 말라고 하신 후, 제자들에게 이렇게 말씀하십니다.
After telling the disciples not to worry about food or drink, Jesus says:
“다만 너희는 그의 나라를 구하라. 그리하면 이런 것을 너희에게 더하시리라.” (31절)
“But seek His kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.” (v. 31)
이 말씀은 단순히 우선순위를 바꾸라는 요청이 아닙니다.
This is not merely a call to rearrange our priorities.
이것은 생명을 지키는 지혜, 즉 하늘의 법칙입니다.
It is wisdom for preserving life—heaven’s principle.
염려가 우리 삶을 지켜주는 것이 아니라, 하나님 나라를 구할 때 하나님께서 생명을 지켜주시고 필요한 모든 것을 더해주십니다.
It is not worry that sustains our life, but seeking God’s kingdom brings His protection and provision.
예수님은 이어서 말씀하십니다.
Jesus continues:
“적은 무리여 무서워 말라 너희 아버지께서 그 나라를 너희에게 주시기를 기뻐하시느니라.” (32절)
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” (v. 32)
하나님의 나라는 우리가 애써 얻어야 할 대상이기 전에, 하나님께서 기쁨으로 주시려는 선물입니다.
God’s kingdom is not something we must strive to earn; it is a gift He delights to give.

We can seek God’s kingdom because it is our Father’s will for us.

Scripture defines the kingdom of God as God’s reign and rule.

The kingdom is not just a place, but the realm where God rules.

God’s reign is revealed when His will is fulfilled in our lives and we obey with joy.
하나님께서 인간을 창조하실 때, 우리는 하나님의 형상대로 지음 받았고,
When God created humanity, we were made in His image,
에덴동산에서 벌거벗었으나 부끄러워하지 않는 공동체로 살아갔습니다.
and we lived in Eden as a community, naked and unashamed.

It was a community of love and trust, accepting one another just as we were.

In other words, it was the temptation to become a judge of good and evil for oneself.

But humans took God’s place, judging and condemning one another, and began to cover themselves.

This is why they became ashamed of their nakedness.
하나님의 나라를 구한다는 것은 이 잃어버린 에덴을 회복하는 것입니다.
To seek God’s kingdom is to restore this lost Eden.

It means accepting God’s rule and returning to a community that is “naked but unashamed,”

Jesus said to Nicodemus:

It is easy to live by doubting and judging one another, prioritizing our own interests.

That is why the kingdom of God cannot be merely longed for in our hearts,
삶으로, 선택으로, 행동으로 나타나야 하는 것입니다.
but must be revealed through our lives, our choices, and our actions.
그리고 성경은 그런 거룩한 선택을 실제로 감당했던 한 사람의 이야기를 전해줍니다.
And Scripture tells us the story of someone who made such a holy choice in action.
바로, 에스더입니다.
That person is Esther.
먼저 하나님의 부르심은 가장 평범한 사람을 통해 시작됩니다.
God’s calling often begins through the most ordinary people.
페르시아 제국에서 왕후를 새로 뽑는 큰 행사가 열렸고,
A great event was held in the Persian Empire to choose a new queen,

and among the candidates, an orphaned Jewish girl named Esther was chosen by the king.

Wise and humble, she defied expectations and became queen,

but no one knew she was a Jew.

and their cries and mourning shook the empire.

At that moment, the kingdom of God is restored through a decision of faith.
모르드개는 왕후 에스더에게 민족을 구해 달라고 간청했고,
Mordecai pleaded with Queen Esther to save her people,
에스더는 왕 앞에 나아가는 것이 생명을 잃을 수 있는 일임을 알면서도
and though she knew approaching the king could cost her life,
고뇌 끝에 이렇게 결단합니다. “죽으면 죽으리이다.”
after great inner struggle, she made her decision: “If I perish, I perish.”
그녀는 사흘 동안 금식하며 기도한 뒤, 왕 앞에 나아가고
She fasted and prayed for three days, then went before the king,
왕은 은혜로 그녀를 받아줍니다.
and by God’s grace, the king welcomed her.
그리고 두 번의 잔치 끝에 에스더는 마침내 진실을 고백합니다.
After two banquets, Esther finally reveals the truth.

“Haman has plotted to destroy me and my people.”

In the end, God’s rule topples every evil and delivers His people.

he had prepared for Mordecai, and the Jews were saved.

Mordecai became the king’s right-hand man, governing with justice, and the Jewish community established the Feast of Purim to remember God's salvation.
한 사람의 믿음과 희생이 하나님의 나라를 이 땅에 회복시킨 것입니다.
The faith and sacrifice of one person restored God’s kingdom on earth.
결국, 하나님의 나라를 구하는 자에게 하나님은 생명을 더하십니다.
In the end, to those who seek God's kingdom, God adds life.
에스더는 왕후의 자리에 있었지만, 그 자리를 자신의 안위를 위해 사용하지 않았습니다.
Though Esther was in the position of queen, she did not use it for her own safety.
그녀는 하나님의 백성과 나라를 위해 자기 생명을 걸고 하나님의 통치가 이루어지기를 구했습니다.
She risked her life for God’s people and sought for His rule to be established.
그리고 하나님은 그녀의 생명을 지켜주셨고, 그녀를 통해 수많은 생명을 구하게 하셨습니다.
And God protected her life and used her to save many others.
오늘 우리도 에스더처럼 하나님의 나라를 먼저 구하는 삶을 선택해야 하겠습니다.
Today, we too must choose to seek God's kingdom first, like Esther did.
그것은 믿음의 결단과 사랑의 희생이 필요한 길이지만,
This is a path that requires a decision of faith and the sacrifice of love,
그 길 끝에는 생명을 더하시는 하나님의 은혜가 기다리고 있습니다.
but at the end of that road awaits God’s grace, which gives life.
하나님의 통치를 사모하며 살아가는 사람에게,
To the one who longs for God's reign in life,
하나님께서는 반드시 그 나라를 주시고, 참된 생명으로 인도하실 것입니다.
God will surely give the kingdom and lead them to true life.
이러한 하나님의 나라를 진심으로 사모하는 이들에게,
To those who sincerely long for such a kingdom,
예수님은 더욱 구체적인 삶의 방향을 제시하십니다.
Jesus gives a clear direction for how to live.
예수님께서는 말씀하십니다.
Jesus says:
“너희 소유를 팔아 구제하여, 날가지지 아니하는 전대 곧 하늘에 둔 바 다함이 없는 보물을 쌓으라.
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail.
너희 보물 있는 곳에 너희 마음도 있으리라.” (33–34절)
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (vv. 33–34)
이 땅의 부요함이 아닌, 하나님의 나라 중심의 삶이야말로 생명을 지키는 참 지혜입니다.
It is not earthly riches, but a kingdom-centered life that is true wisdom for guarding life.

Even today, the Lord asks us: “With what kind of heart do you now stand before me?”

Lord, help us to lay down hidden greed and worry, and to live lives that are rich toward You.
